The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. The Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Foundation Relations is responsible for the implementation and execution in partnership with the SVP, Development of a comprehensive national strategy to cultivate and expand high-impact relationships with corporate partners-particularly within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries-as well as enhance foundation relations to drive sustained revenue growth.

In this strategic leadership role, the VP will be accountable for exceeding annual revenue goals across national, regional, and local levels by securing and growing corporate partnerships. The position emphasizes the development of transformational revenue streams through innovative cause marketing campaigns, corporate-sponsored events, expanding the organization's foundation portfolio by identifying and securing support from new institutional funders, and identifying, cultivating, and soliciting six and seven-figure+ partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

As a key member of the Development leadership team, the Vice President will serve as a strategic collaborator and thought partner-working closely with regional leaders, Development VPs, leadership volunteers, and cross-functional teams including mission, marketing, technology, and finance. Together, they will co-create integrated, industry-specific engagement strategies that align corporate and foundation partnerships with the organization's Strategic Plan and mission priorities.

The VP will also lead the development of high-touch stewardship strategies for national corporate and foundation partners, ensuring meaningful recognition, personalized engagement, strong retention, and long-term partnership growth.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute national corporate engagement strategies to strengthen existing relationships, expand cause marketing campaigns, and cultivate new partnerships, particularly with industry partners (pharmaceutical, biotech) to drive exponential revenue growth.

  • Partner with Development SVP's and the Executive Leadership Team to identify and develop innovative strategic funding opportunities for partnerships and foundations to drive organizational growth and sustainability.

  • Provide visible and influential leadership within the Development team, fostering cross-departmental collaboration and partnering with regional leaders, marketing, technology, and finance to design and implement forward-thinking, integrated strategies.

  • Collaborate with regional development teams and leadership volunteers to build strong pipelines by identifying and cultivating strategic leads for corporate and foundation partnerships at the local, regional, and national levels, leveraging CRM systems, data analytics, and cross-functional resources to activate networks and drive meaningful engagement.

  • Design and implement tailored sponsorship opportunities and personalized benefit packages supported by high-touch stewardship strategies to drive meaningful corporate engagement, ensure partner retention, and cultivate long-term, strategic partnerships.

  • Cultivate leadership excellence by staying current on industry trends in pharma, biotech, and related sectors; adapting to external factors impacting corporate revenue; and coaching and mentoring direct reports to empower them in achieving revenue targets and team-wide objectives.

  • Personally oversee a portfolio of high-capacity corporate and foundation partners, strategically guiding them through the full donor lifecycle-from cultivation and solicitation to stewardship-to maximize engagement and philanthropic investment.

Required qualifications

  • 10+ years of demonstrated and relevant fundraising experience (including 6 years of team leadership and supervision) with advanced understanding of prospect qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Extensive experience cultivating and soliciting partners in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries; familiarity with scientific concepts and language is critical.

  • Record of leadership and accomplishment in fundraising including campaign planning and execution, pipeline development, and revenue generation across multiple markets.

  • Able to assess staff talent, mentor, and train others toward a shared vision, providing strategic guidance to ensure staff meet their designated revenue and activity goals.

  • Proven ability to manage broad and technical fundraising campaigns, collaborating effectively with staff and volunteers to secure individual gifts.

  • Demonstrated success in coaching staff to higher levels of gift closure and performance and guiding leadership staff through portfolio management, holding reporting and non-reporting staff accountable to identified revenue and donor targets.

  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets and targets, and assessing and adjusting team portfolios to ensure goals are met

  • Proven nonprofit leadership experience with increasing responsibility, successfully driving 7-8 figure gifts

  • Expertise in AI, predictive analytics, and CRM tools to optimize sales pipeline automation, donor journey mapping, and forecasting donor trends to enhance retention and maximize event success

  • Extensive experience managing geographically dispersed teams, in remote and hybrid environments, overseeing both revenue generation and project execution.

  • Track record of implementing innovative fundraising strategies that drive engagement and revenue growth.

  • Strong ability to perform under pressure, handle criticism professionally, and consistently meet fundraising commitments.

  • Exceptional project management, strategic planning, and negotiation skills to drive effective resource allocation and optimize fundraising outcomes.

  • Advanced CRM expertise, leveraging data analytics to drive decision-making and train teams on data-driven fundraising strategies.

  • Field-based role requiring 30%+ travel, including events, training, regional meetings, and organizational gatherings.

Compensation & Benefits:

The estimated hiring compensation range for this role is $165,000-$200,000. Final offers will be based on the candidate'sgeographic location, consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.
