CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

The Employment Claims Manager is accountable for providing employment law and policy advice and oversight on a domestic and global basis to the human resource organization and others, as appropriate, to support enterprise employee and labor relations goals and objectives in a manner which minimizes the Company's financial exposure.

  • Respond to, manage, and resolve administrative complaints and charges, as well as private employee claims, of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and other inquiries from administrative agencies and attorneys for employees.
  • Provide advice and counsel to the global human resource organization and management on employment related matters, including understanding and application of company policy and procedures, as well as escalation to appropriate senior department management and other stakeholders, in relation to agency and private employee claims and other employee relations matters (Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA and NLRA) and similar global matters.
  • Apply federal, state, and local employment laws to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Stay up to date on changes in employment laws and regulations.
  • Conduct specific research and investigation into employee issues as necessary.
  • Track employment claims to develop metrics and understand trends.
  • Support training, programs, and systems to support employee relations policy and strategy.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence relative to employee relations matters.
  • Ensure human resource compliance across organization; and
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Must have a Juris Doctor

Preferred:

  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio or other U.S. state

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience managing employment claims/matters
  • Must have knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures relative to employee and labor relations matters
  • Must have prior work experience handling matters before federal and state agencies responsible for enforcing employment laws
  • Must have experience using Microsoft Office tools and products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Have prior work experience resolving employment disputes through participation in mediations and negotiations with attorneys for employees
  • Have prior work experience using a Human Resources Information System ("HRIS") or Applicant Tracking System ("ATS")
