Position Overview

We are seeking a highly professional and customer service-oriented Security Officer - Lobby Receptionist to join our team at a commercial real estate property in downtown Chicago. This role requires a strong security background, excellent communication skills, and a polished professional appearance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring building security, enforcing access control procedures, and providing exceptional customer service to tenants, visitors, and client representatives. Candidates must be proactive, organized, and capable of handling high-pressure situations with limited supervision.

Requirements
  • Pre-Employment Requirements:
    • 21+ Years of Age
    • 3-5+ Years of Security Experience
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for tenants, visitors, and vendors, maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor.
  • Monitor and enforce building access control procedures to prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Ensure contractors and vendors follow proper check-in protocols and enter through the dock, as required by building policy.
  • Escort contractors attempting to enter through the lobby to the designated check-in area.
  • Deny unauthorized equipment, carts, and large deliveries from entering through the lobby.
  • Provide clear communication and direction to vendors, ensuring they adhere to building regulations, including union requirements.
  • Monitor security systems and visitor management programs, responding promptly to alarms and security concerns.
  • Write detailed and accurate incident reports regarding policy infractions and security incidents.
  • Conduct routine patrols of the lobby, elevators, and high-rise floors as needed.
  • Maintain exceptional attendance and job performance with a disciplined and proactive work ethic.
  • Remain alert and engaged, avoiding complacency during slower evening, holiday, and overnight shifts.
Qualifications
  • Previous customer service experience in commercial real estate security is required.
  • Professional appearance and attitude - must take pride in uniform and job responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with tenants, visitors, and clients.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including experience with security/visitor management software.
  • Ability to multitask in a service-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and respond quickly to security concerns.
  • Capable of making strong judgment calls in the absence of direct supervision.
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to receive cross-training for multiple security posts.

As a Security Lobby Receptionist, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Education, Government and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem solving manner
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
