Clariant is seeking a dynamic Director for the Personal & Home Care market segment in North America to drive innovation and growth in strategic focus areas. This role is based in New Providence, NJ and requires regular travel in North America, with a primary focus on the US with a team of approximately 24 people (15 direct, 9 indirect) in sales, technical and product management roles. The position reports directly to the Global Vice President of Personal & Home Care within Clariant's Care Chemicals Business Unit, and is part of the Global Leadership Team of the Personal & Home Care segment. The Personal & Home Care business segment develops and supplies specialty and sustainable ingredients such as rheology modifiers, emollients, emulsifiers, mild surfactants, UV Filters, preservatives, soil release polymers, hard surface cleansing and modifying agents for Hair Care, Skin Care, Sun Care, Fabric Care, Hard Surface and Dish Cleansing applications. The business segment also develops and supplies oral and parenteral excipients for pharmaceutical industry applications.

Responsibilities



  • Accountable for the sales growth, revenue and margin of the Personal, Home and Health Care markets in the North America Region (US and Canada)
  • Responsible for team members and associated costs of account management, business development, application development (technical service), distribution management, key account management, product management and pricing
  • Indirectly responsible for product development, marketing and communications
  • Development and implementation of regional strategy and business plans for each market segment aligned with global strategies and top priorities
  • Annual development and execution of growth plans, financial targets, budgets, projects and key activities to achieve the strategic ambition
  • Steering and prioritization of performance of all team members using CRM (sales leads and opportunities), Technical Service Requests, Innovation Pipeline, objectives, targets, regular feedback, and performance reviews
  • Alignment and regular interaction with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, Communications, R&D, Product Stewardship and Quality Assurance
  • Developing and maintaining a strong team with innovation and growth-oriented mindset to develop and sell specialty ingredients into the Personal, Home and Health Care markets
  • Navigatingcomplex situations using interdisciplinary and agile problem solving
  • Identifying customer and market needs, and meeting them to drive profitable growth
  • Building a reputation for innovation, sustainability and providing value adding solutions
  • Effective stakeholder management with global team members, central functions and corporate service units
  • Identification and execution of sales growth, profit improvement, innovation, partnership and M&A opportunities
  • People Management: Foster people development and talent growth ensuring a team collaboration and high performance culture



Requirements



  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree along with10+ years of experience in the personal and home care industry, with demonstrated expertise in technical sales, marketing, and management;an MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred
  • A technical degree and/or relevant industry experience is highly desirable
  • Collaborative and inclusive management style with change management skill set
  • Proven track record of successful new business development
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior-level customer contacts to provide support and guidance to team members
  • Relevant interdisciplinary experience with market knowledge, technical background and relevant Marketing & Sales experience preferred
  • Proven customer-centric approach combined with robust commercial competencies
  • Ability to travel within North America up to 50% of time, and occasional trips to Mexico, Brazil, Europe and Asia for tradeshows and team meetings
