Senior Risk Manager, Card Data Management

Capital One's Card Data Management (CDM) organization is the risk steward for ensuring a well managed data ecosystem for the organization. CDM serves as the governance function accountable for the data risk for the organization. CDM is on a transformational journey to build out the data governance control framework focusing on automation and preventative controls to unleash the business for future data needs including generative AI and new third party data.

The CDM Team is currently hiring for a Senior Manager who will lead our risk and control function. As a key member of the CDM team, this role will be responsible for all components of our Risk and Control environment inclusive of establishing a repeatable process for translating Policies and Standards into requirements, maturing our control environment, and partnering with eData to build next generation solutions for controls and remediation.

This individual must possess extensive risk and controls experience as well as in-depth knowledge of processes, risks, and controls, be an amazing people manager who leads inclusively and empathetically, both directly and indirectly, possess meaningful program delivery experience and a proven track record of leading teams to deliver multi-dimensional scope successfully, and

is known for strong influence and communication skills, and that can positively drive transformational change.

This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, who is capable of driving transformational change and delivering game-changing value. The preferred candidate will have experience working in Compliance and/or Risk Management organizations within a major financial company, with a solid understanding of process management frameworks, risk and control methodology, control testing methodology, and regulatory requirement management and applicability.

Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a people leader for a team of associates

  • Designing, developing, and continuously improving the Card's data management controls, while also autonomously driving the process to evaluate effectiveness of Card controls in adherence with the methodology

  • Partnering across the Card Data Producer organization to provide strategic and tactical thought-partnership to effectively drive and evolve control design and development

  • Maintain a strategic view of the control environment while driving enhancements

  • Building relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders

  • Furthering the data agenda within Card to drive sustainability, amplify simplification & automation, enable ownership & accountability through transparency, and strengthen the control ecosystem

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Risk Management specific to control development or testing or Internal Audit

  • At least 2 years of People Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or MBA Degree

  • 3+ years of Corporate Management Consulting experience

  • 3+ years of Financial Services industry experience

  • 3+ years of regulatory compliance or credit experience

  • 3+ years of People Management experience

  • 6+ years of Risk Management experience

  • 6+ years of controls testing experience

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience

  • PMP certification

  • Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr. Risk Manager Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr. Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
