About the Role:

Responsible for the purification and analysis of small molecules in support of discovery programs at Neurocrine Biosciences Inc. utilizing both HPLC and SFC, and developing/optimizing methods as necessary in a high throughput lab. Maintenance and troubleshooting of various analytical and preparative LCMS and SFCMS instrumentation will be required as well.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Perform daily HPLC and SFC achiral small molecule analyses

  • Execute purification of high-throughput small molecule submissions using preparative SFC-MS and HPLC-MS

  • Maintain analytical and preparative SFC and HPLC instrumentation for daily operation

  • Troubleshoot routine and complex instrument issues

  • Operate liquid handling instrumentation

  • Utilize sample data to develop preliminary analysis and findings

  • Assist in the creation of presentations of laboratory studies/analysis and discuss the findings

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar discipline and 2+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry, specifically small molecule purification and analysis. Hands-on experiences with HPLC/SFC Chromatography and liquid robotics preferred

  • MS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar discipline and some industry experience in pharmaceutical industry, specifically small molecule purification and analysis. Hands-on experiences with HPLC/SFC Chromatography and liquid robotics preferred

  • The role involves utilizing sophisticated instrumentation to solve complex analytical and separation challenges, collaborating with various teams, and maintaining high scientific standards in a laboratory environment

  • Working knowledge of HPLC/SFC chromatography. Analytical and preparative focus with this technology is required

  • Proficiency in operation and maintenance of Agilent, Thermo, and/or Waters instrumentation preferred

  • Proficiency in MassLynx and/or Chromeleon software preferred

  • Experience with PIC solutions instrumentation and software a plus

  • Experience with analytical method development and preparative chromatography for small molecule chiral and achiral pharmaceutical compounds preferred

  • Experience in instrument maintenance and troubleshooting preferred

  • Critically analyze data and identify potential anomalies

  • Demonstrate a high degree of responsibility in maintaining scientific standards and safe laboratory practices

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with different functional teams

  • The ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently

  • Ability to accommodate dynamic timelines, while maintaining quality of work

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $108,600.00-$157,350.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
