The Occupational Therapist 2 (Per Diem) serves as a journey-level clinician and provides advanced Occupational Therapy services under the direction of the Occupational Therapy Supervisor. This role is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing treatment programs for patients with complex needs across various clinical settings.
Incumbents in this role are experienced practitioners who demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. They exercise sound clinical judgment in documentation and treatment decisions, and are recognized as resources for less experienced therapists. The OT 2 (Per Diem) is also expected to assist in the orientation of new staff and actively participate in departmental training and development programs.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload a license and/or certification if required for the position
- Current California Occupational Therapist License - Must possess and maintain active licensure issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy
- Current CPR Certification - Must possess and maintain a valid CPR certification from the American Heart Association or complete certification on-site through UC Davis Health System
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Demonstrated 2+ years of clinical experience in Occupational Therapy
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills of occupational therapy theory and practices as evidenced by several years' clinical experience
- Ability to communicate ideas and relate well with staff and patients to work as a team member
- Willingness to assist other staff members with their caseloads
- Professional competency in occupational therapy evaluation techniques, such as range of motion testing, muscle testing, cognitive/ perceptual testing, activities of daily living evaluation, sensory testing, and use of standardized testing of upper extremity function
- Professional competency in occupational therapy treatment modalities, including activities of daily living and transfer training, strengthening, coordination, balance, range of motion, perceptual/cognitive skills training, wheelchair prescription, fabrication of splints and adapted devices
- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with patients and their families
- Ability to train family in follow-through for home therapy programs; home visiting as necessary
- Ability to communicate clearly on a professional basis with physicians and work cooperatively with a variety of health care professionals
- Knowledge of requirements in processing for third-party payors
- Ability to write progress notes, discharge plans, and other written reports as requested
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the scheduling of patients in assigned areas of responsibility
- Ability to organize time
- Ability to be flexible and cooperative
- Ability to work occasional overtime
- Ability to verbally communicate pertinent information and knowledge of the profession for training and educating other hospital service personnel
