$2,890.31 to $3,179.34 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. North Area/Merritt Island/Sykes Creek WWTP. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and includes standby, overtime, and holidays as needed. Performs skilled administrative work supervising the operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities and the maintenance and repair of utility systems in an assigned area of the County. Supervision is provided primarily to the Chief Treatment Plant Operators, Chief Treatment Plant Operator/Mechanics, Wastewater Plant Supervisors, Senior Wastewater Plant Supervisors, Utility Maintenance Supervisors, Utility Maintenance Foremen, and assigned clerical staff. In addition, supervision may be provided to lead plant and/or maintenance staff as required.

REQUIREMENTS:Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a water and wastewater utility system, which includes three (3) years in a supervisory capacity. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. A valid active Class A or equivalent Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's license from any state is preferred. The following additional certifications are preferred: Class C or higher Drinking Water Operator's license, Level 3 or higher Water Distribution System Operator license, Level C or higher Wastewater Collection Technician certification, Level C or higher Reclaimed Water Distribution certification, and/or Backflow Tester certification. Must complete all mandatory employee development and safety training classes required by the County. Must be able to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to respond to emergencies. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
