Mortgage Loan Collector

A Mortgage Loan Collector assists Mortgage clients; processes a variety of clerical duties; and collects overdue payments for mortgage loans from customers.

• Attempting to reach delinquent mortgage holders by telephone at residence, place of employment or any other telephone numbers available to establish when payment is to be received
• Escalating attempts to reach delinquent mortgage holders after the loan is 30, 60 or 90 days past due by telephone, face-to-face meetings, notices, special letters, etc.
• Ordering property inspections on loans when the customer is still unreachable at 45 days of delinquency
• Reviewing property inspections to determine appropriate action to take with regard to established guidelines
• Sending letters and notices to delinquent mortgage holders according to established procedures
• Offering and establishing appropriate foreclosure or repayment plans when needed; providing necessary documentation and back-up paperwork to collection manager for explanation and approval
• Recommending uncollectible loans for foreclosure and preparing foreclosure package
• Handling processing of payments, payment posting, posting errors, bad checks, etc. as the need arises
• Handling return payments in accordance with HUD, VA and FNMA, as well as bank policies and guidelines
• Using skip tracing techniques as appropriate when trying to locate mortgagor
• Serving as a back-up receptionist

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
• A minimum of two years' related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word required
