The Communications Manager is responsible for executing internal and external communications strategies that support Pelican's brand, business objectives, and culture. This role is critical in shaping how Pelican communicates with customers, employees, partners, and the media. The Communications Manager is responsible for managing corporate messaging, public relations, internal communication programs, and executive visibility-ensuring consistency, alignment, and impact across all channels and audiences.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate & External Communications



  • Manage external communication strategy, including media relations, press releases, corporate announcements, and crisis communications.
  • Build relationships with relevant media outlets, industry influencers, and PR partners to secure earned coverage and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Create and maintain corporate messaging frameworks, executive bios, and company boilerplates to ensure consistency and brand alignment.



Internal Communications



  • Develop internal communication strategy partnering with internal stakeholders for corporate programs inclusive of Corporate Social Responsibility, Philanthropy and Community Relations and Employee Engagement & Culture.
  • Lead company-wide internal communication initiatives, including leadership messaging, organizational announcements, newsletters, intranet content, and town hall meetings.
  • Support cross-departmental initiatives by crafting clear, engaging communications that align employees with company goals, values, and updates.
  • Serve as a liaison between executive leadership and employees to ensure transparency and alignment.



Content Creation & Editorial Oversight



  • Write and edit high-quality content including blogs, articles, speeches, FAQs, Q&As, and employee communications.
  • Support marketing and product teams with copywriting and messaging guidance for campaigns, launches, and events.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of communication initiatives.



Executive & Brand Communications



  • Provide messaging and presentation support to executives for conferences, interviews, and internal events.
  • Help shape the corporate narrative and elevate Pelican's voice in key markets and industries.



JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field
  • 5+ yrs experience in marketing communications for corporate organizations with consumer presence
  • Knowledge of AP style and comfort writing for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong storytelling ability
  • Proven experience working with executives, media, and cross-functional teams
  • Must be organized, accurate, deadline and detail oriented.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, intranet platforms, web-content tools
  • Working knowledge of Project Management Software and Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Prior experience supporting manufacturing, operations or logistics industry clients.

  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Emphasizes ethical leadership and decision-making to protect Pelican's brand and reputation.
  • Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Compensation & Benefits:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The annual U.S. pay range for this positionis listed below. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills,and experience.
