About the Role

Culmen International is looking for a Sr. Technical Writer/Editor to support a nuclear weapons program with DTRA at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.



What You'll Do in Your New Role

You will have the opportunity to contribute your technical writing and editing expertise to the nuclear weapons technical publications in support of the NE-NL Logistics & Maintenance Division (NLMJ) and the Joint Nuclear Weapons Publications System (JNWPS) Team.
Your role will encompass the following responsibilities:
    Drafting and refining publications for inclusion in the JNWPS.
  • Providing initial drafts for the Comment and Review process, effectively consolidating feedback, and facilitating the Final Product Review.
  • Assisting in the resolution of any issues related to JNWPS content, promoting clarity and accuracy.
  • Collaborating effectively with JNWPS management to ensure the successful completion of work assignments.
  • Offering support to project officers during the Comment and Review process, including the consolidation of comments and the Final Product Review.
  • Developing and sharing in-house documentation, such as checklists and various logs (e.g., SIPR, DIAMONDS, and Customer Conversation logs), as well as performing quality assurance checks.
  • Uploading technical publications into DIAMONDS in a timely manner.
  • Preparing, reproducing, distributing, and tracking media products to meet organizational needs.
  • Engaging with JNWPS counterparts at both internal and external organizations to foster collaboration.
  • Initiating and updating reference materials and "How to..." documents, and documenting conversations when requested, ensuring transparency and thorough communication.
  • Submitting trouble tickets as required or requested to address any potential issues.
  • Providing editorial support for meetings and correspondence assignments to enhance clarity and professionalism.
  • Executing CD burns and distribution requirements via ARL Safe with attention to detail.
  • Maintaining the Publication Requirement Table for all accounts to track progress efficiently.
  • Keeping the Technical Publication tracking system updated to reflect current statuses and needs.


Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of demonstrated experience AND high school diploma

OR

  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience AND a BA/BS degree.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and task driven.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to function independently.
  • Experienced with Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Secret clearance
