Role Summary

The Visual Identity Design team, part of Rivian's Marketing org, is looking for a Lead Graphic Designer focused on marketing creative. We build brand love through storytelling and campaigns that show up across digital, print, retail, and events.

As a Lead Designer, you'll help shape how the brand comes to life in the world-from bold advertising concepts to clean, scalable design systems. You'll work closely with copywriters, art directors, strategists, spatial designers and marketers to create assets that stretch across channels and feel expressive, joyful, intentional, and a little unexpected.

Our ideal candidate is a strong visual thinker with experience designing across paid media, OOH, display, and social. Bonus points for work experience in event/experiential campaigns. You are detail-oriented, collaborative, and energized by building work that's smart, impactful, and true to the brand. Bonus points for motion and animation skills.


Responsibilities

  • Concept and design for marketing campaigns, from early look & feel through rollout
  • Create and extend visual systems across channels, including OOH, print, digital, display, and retail
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on campaign development
  • Support lightweight motion design needs (end cards, kinetic type, social assets)
  • Evolve and stretch the brand design system in fresh, appropriate ways
  • Maintain clarity, consistency, and attention to detail across all deliverables
  • Contribute to the creative process with new ideas, thoughtful references, and a clear point of view

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of graphic design experience in brand, campaign, or creative studio environments
  • Portfolio that shows expressive, elevated design work across marketing and storytelling
  • Expert in layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and system design
  • Experience with both print and digital production and file prep
  • Comfort working within a brand system, while continuing to evolve
  • Familiarity with motion design tools (After Effects, Figma prototyping, or similar)
  • Highly collaborative with clear communication and low-ego energy
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects in parallel
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for team workshops, campaign production, event installs
  • Strong presentation skills and excels at building consensus to help bring a vision to life.
  • Skilled in not only managing your own work, but champions a holistic design team voice.
  • You get satisfaction in shaping experiences through the power of strong design concepts brought to life in multimedia.
  • Enjoy creating an amazing 360-degree campaign just as much as a expanding our Brand Guidelines and Standards.
  • You think big picture andsweat the details.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and a willingness to pivot as needed.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and can work independently and in a team environment under tight deadlines.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $112,100 to $140,100 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
