This role is a hybrid position

Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office.

The Core FP&A team at Sonos plays a critical role in financial planning and storytelling, delivering actionable insights to senior leadership and influencing strategic business decisions. As part of this team, you'll help design, improve, and lead the processes and tools that enable accurate planning, forecasting, and reporting.

This position reports to the Director, Core FP&A and will serve as the team's lead for all things related to gross margin analysis and insights.

What You'll Do

The Core FP&A team is looking for a high performer to be our lead for all things gross margin. We are looking for someone to join our team who is highly motivated, curious and excited about reporting, data and process improvements. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working for a company that lives its brand and delivers on its promise to create the ultimate home music experience Additionally, this person will:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for gross margin, partnering cross-functionally with Revenue, Supply Chain Finance, and Accounting teams.

  • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly gross margin analyses, including year-over-year, forecast vs. actual, and quarter-over-quarter bridges.

  • Own the narrative and analysis of gross margin performance to support internal executive reviews and external earnings processes.

  • Develop enhanced analysis frameworks and contribute to automation initiatives for gross margin reporting.

  • Review SEC filings and other external documentation for accuracy and consistency regarding gross margin data and language.

  • Support revenue forecasting and assumptions, unit-based analysis, discount tracking, and bi-weekly gross margin flash estimates.

  • Lead or contribute to ad hoc projects in collaboration with the broader Core FP&A team and business partners.

What You'll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in FP&A, consulting, investment banking, or a related analytical field.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive communication skills with an ability to convey complex financial information clearly.

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis using Excel or equivalent tools.

  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and commitment to continuous improvement.

  • High integrity and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

  • Willingness to work from the Boston, MA office 2-3 days per week as part of a hybrid work model.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FP&A or accounting in a consumer-facing business (e.g., consumer electronics, direct-to-consumer, or retail).

  • Knowledge of gross margin variance analysis (volume, mix, rate, etc.).

  • Familiarity with financial systems such as Anaplan, SAP S/4HANA, Analytics for Office (AO), Tableau, or SQL.

  • Exposure to AI-powered productivity tools or automation technologies in finance.

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:

$108,000 and $135,100

The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate's geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
