What You'll Do

The Principal Data Analytics Engineer - Platform Engineering is responsible for the design and development of event-based integration platforms implemented to optimize the real-time flow of data across the University. This position will also play an essential role in our goal to utilize cloud computing technology for much of our data infrastructure. They will also be responsible for providing operational support of the event-based integration platform and related integrations. This is a highly visible technical leadership role within Tufts Technology Services, and it is expected that individual in this position will often be called upon to provide technical consultation to other groups in TTS.

  • Platform engineering - Design and implementation of event-based integration platform in accordance with DevOps best practices, with subsequent maintenance and support.
  • Cloud engineering - Play a leadership role in the development of our cloud architecture and evangelize the use of cloud computing with TTS.
  • Data Engineering - Work closely with internal customers in designing and implementing event driven systems according to their needs.
  • Domain Expertise - Maintain expert knowledge regarding new tools being developed for use in the domain of data movement, transformation, and use.
  • Technical leadership - Provide broad technical leadership both within the Data Strategy group and within TTS as a whole.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree and 8 plus years of experience
  • Expert in managing a production Kafka environment
  • Expert in automating deployment of infrastructure and platforms using IaC (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD (e.g. GitHub Actions)
  • Demonstrated experience with Python
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an AWS cloud environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Ansible
  • Experience working with Denodo
  • Strong SQL skills

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional evening or weekend work, as well as the ability to participate in a 24x7 on call rotation for major incident support activities.

Pay Range

Minimum $125,950.00, Midpoint $157,500.00, Maximum $189,000.00

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
