POSITION SPECIFICS

Shaver's Creek Environmental Center is seeking a full-time Operations Site Manager (OSM) to effectively manage internal and external space use and rental requests, daily upkeep and preventative maintenance of buildings and grounds, and volunteer communication and work projects. The OSM will provide leadership in maintaining a vibrant facility that directly supports the Center's wide range of credit, non-credit, outreach, and research programming, and oversees landscape management efforts that include invasive species removal, native species promotion, and general safety and upkeep measures.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

To achieve these ends, the OSM supervises a team of grounds and facility staff to maintain and update the facility and collaborates with a range of colleagues and program areas to ascertain facility needs and coordinate use of the site. The OSM also coordinates with support units at Penn State such as Office of Physical Plant, Enterprise Network & Communications Services , and IT.

The position manages on-site rentals, self-guided visits, and reservations for both internal staff and outside groups by fielding requests, scheduling events, ensuring agreements are signed, and providing day-of hosting. The OSM also implements center-wide volunteer protocols and oversees ongoing cultivation of volunteer opportunities across the Center.

Across the scope of the role, the position must ensure proper management of risk and liability measures and offer appropriate training.Given the nature of the duties of this role, this position must be performed on-site cannot be performed remotely.

This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Associate Director for Operations and other Associate Directors and Program Directors.

Established in 1976, Shaver's Creek is an environmental education field laboratory seeking to enhance the quality of life of our local and global community by providing exemplary outdoor learning opportunities. Administered by Penn State Outreach, the Center functions as a university field campus providing facilities and programming that meet the education and research needs of many academic disciplines.

The Center is located within Penn State's 7,000 acre Stone Valley Forest, 13 miles south of State College. We traditionally offer summer camps, environmental education programs, natural/cultural history exhibits, live amphibians and reptiles, hiking trails, native gardens and more.Our Aviary is one of the few federally and state licensed facilities in Pennsylvania providing perpetual care and housing for eagles, falcons, hawks, and owls.

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00.
