Essential Job Duties |
The primary purpose of this position will be to oversee the following:
Zone Management
- Oversee cleaning, disinfecting, and upkeep of internal and external building spaces within designated zones.
- Serve both state-appropriated and receipts-supported customers.
- Manage environmental services for the Athletic Department.
Building Appearance & Customer Satisfaction
- Ensure aesthetic quality and cleanliness of buildings and equipment.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction within assigned zones.
Strategic Planning & Program Administration
- Support the Director with strategic and tactical planning initiatives.
- Implement and manage a large-scale Environmental Services program.
Policy & Procedure Development
- Develop and update unit-wide policies and procedures related to:
- Training programs
- Emergency response
- Work standards
- Inclement weather protocols
Resource & Financial Management
- Manage operational resources effectively.
- Approve material requests and oversee budgeted expenditures.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely program completion.
- Prepare and present formal budgets to senior leadership.
Customer Relationship Management
- Proactively anticipate and respond to customer needs.
- Adjust processes to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Resolve issues to enhance the customer experience.
Staff Training & Development
- Maintain a comprehensive training program that includes:
- General operational training
- Emergency preparedness
- Inclement weather procedures
- Performance standards
Personnel Management
- Interpret and enforce University policies and procedures.
- Approve staffing decisions, including recruitment and hiring.
- Handle counseling, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
University Representation
- Represent Environmental Services on University committees as needed.

Other Work/Responsibilities |
- Perform on-call administrator duties.
- Attend and conduct meetings and participate at conferences.
- Designated essential personnel, required to report to work during adverse weather conditions (even if the University is on an alternate schedule).
- May assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a Director.

Minimum Experience/Education |
- 2 to 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience overseeing teams, preferably in a large-scale or institutional setting (e.g., university, hospital, government facility)

Department Required Skills |
- Proficiency in operating a computer to complete reports and documentation
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations
- Strong skills in calculating financial data and preparing budgets
- Familiarity with various electronic devices and media, including: cell phones, hand-held radios, and computer applications and mobile apps
- Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors and service providers
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
- Experience in management, accounting, or a similar field of study.
- Completion of Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) Certification.
- Management experience, preferably in a commercial or contracting custodial environment.
