As a vital member of the R&D team, you'll design and analyze innovative X-ray tubes and related components. You'll conduct feasibility studies and rigorous testing on new and enhanced designs, guiding support personnel in the preparation of detailed designs, testing protocols, and prototype fabrication. Key Responsibilities

  • Uses FEA analysis tools, such as ANSYS, to make design decisions for thermal, magnetic and structural aspects of designs
  • Simulates electron beam optics of X-ray tubes to achieve high-end technical requirements
  • Defines geometry, materials and manufacturing methods to obtain required performance
  • Plans and conducts experiments to validate simulations using physical prototypes
  • Documents and reports results of simulations and testing
  • Evaluates new technologies and provides recommendations for use
  • Collaborates with engineering team on manufacturing documentation and new product designs
  • Works on complex issues and exercises independent judgment to solve problems

Preferred Experience/Skills/Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in scientific field, preferably mechanical engineering or physics
  • Experience simulating electron or particle beams using electromagnetic software, such as OPERA
  • Understanding of electron optics, magnetics, high vacuum and high voltage technology
  • Experience with modern programming techniques is preferred
  • Ability to define part geometry and tolerances to ensure manufacturing repeatability
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and design for manufacturing (DFM) is a plus
  • Experience with X-ray tubes or other high vacuum devices is beneficial
  • Demonstrated track record of successful innovation and product development
  • Proficiency in project management and ability to deliver on time and within budget
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate with internal and external professionals
  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Typical Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) and 8 years of related experience or Masters Degree with 6 years of related experience

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required Certifications and Training

  • Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility.

Experience Level with Business Tools

  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
