POSITION SPECIFICS

Play a vital role in sharing the stories of the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State with various audiences through a wide range of media by applying for this Graphic Design Specialist position.

The Graphic Design Specialist will be responsible for the concept and creation of advanced strategic visual communications to represent artistic performance and programs to university students, community members, partners, arts patrons, and many more.

Those efforts will support the Center's marketing department efforts to drive ticket sales, advance development goals, and promote engagement presentations for students and the community.

The majority of the Graphic Design Specialist's time will be focused on capturing, editing, and producing event photography and video to create compelling visual narratives that promote performances and public events.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with internal clients and external vendors to develop video content for social media, presentations, and funding-related communications.

  • Design innovative digital and print media (e.g., brochures, flyers, large displays) to promote performing arts events.

  • Provide support for website content updates, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards, branding guidelines, and contractual obligations.

  • Integrate multimedia elements (audio/video) into the website and serve as a backup for Graphic Designer colleague.

  • Oversee print production processes with vendors to ensure high-quality outcomes.

  • Maintain and manage a media asset library of artists, event photos, and videos.

  • Follow departmental file management systems to ensure organized and accessible media archives.

  • Create and oversee the use of design templates and brand guidelines for consistent use inter-departmentally.

Creative projects are often rich in detail and deeply rooted in the understanding of music, dance, and artistic expression. When specific works are involved, the Graphic Design Specialist will closely work with the visiting artists' representatives as they provide guidance.

The Graphic Design Specialist will work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, utilizing organizational skills, to complete the duties of this role.

As needed, the Graphic Design Specialist will be required to work evenings and an occasional weekend during the Center's performance season (typically September to May) to document performances. In these cases, a flex schedule will be implemented.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated attention to detail skills

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time

Candidates must have professional experience with photography and creating video content, as well as proficient understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

This position will report to the Marketing and Communications Manager in the Center for Performing Arts.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $56,200.00 - $81,500.00.
