Posted Date: Jun 16 2025 At GSK, we have bold ambitions for patients, aiming to positively impact the health of 2.5 billion people by the end of the decade. Our R&D focuses on discovering and delivering vaccines and medicines, combining our understanding of the immune system with cutting-edge technology to transform people's lives. GSK fosters a culture ambitious for patients, accountable for impact, and committed to doing the right thing, making sure that we focus our efforts on accelerating significant assets that meet patients' needs and have the highest probability of success. GSK has kicked off 2025 with impressive growth in sales, profits, and earnings. We anticipate five major new FDA product approvals and 15 phase III/pivotal study readouts over the next two years. So far, we have secured two FDA approvals, with three more expected later this year. By uniting science, technology, and talent, we are committed to getting ahead of disease together. We are seeking applications from a talented and driven Senior Principal Scientist or Principal Scientist to join our Stem Cell Technologies team within the Target Discovery department at GSK's Upper Providence research facility in the United States. Our mission is to bridge the translational gap and accelerate the delivery of medicines to patients in need by developing, characterizing, and deploying iPSC-derived models. The ideal candidate will collaborate with a dynamic team to utilize these models in identifying and validating therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases such as AD, PD, and ALS at scale. This full-time, lab-based position requires a PhD and at least three years of postdoctoral experience. Candidates should possess specialized expertise in stem cell biology and 2D models related to neurodegenerative diseases. This knowledge forms the foundation for designing and implementing disease-relevant in vitro models that are essential for target identification and validation at scale. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of scientific discovery, to make impactful contributions to impact patient's life. Our Stem Cell Technologies team is embedded in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that emphasizes synergy and innovation. We work closely with various research units and platform groups to advance our objectives. The ideal candidate will thrive in this matrixed setting, contributing to cross-disciplinary projects that demand both scientific rigor and creative problem-solving. We are excited to welcome a scientist who is eager to break new ground in stem cell research and contribute to pioneering solutions to accelerate our drug discovery pipeline from target identification through late-stage drug discovery. Key Responsibilities: In this role, you will: * Develop human iPSC-derived models to investigate neurodegenerative diseases, which encompass iPSC-derived neurons and glia, as well as 2D co-culture and tri-culture systems. * Characterize and validate these models using bulk and single-cell omics and disease-relevant functional assays. * Partner with matrix teams to benchmark these models against in vitro patient data. * Execute large-scale functional genomics studies and compound screenings. * Facilitate interdepartmental and external collaborations. * Draft protocols, design and perform laboratory experiments, apply advanced data analysis, interpret results, compile detailed electronic lab note reports, and communicate findings effectively, with a focus on enhancing project progress and platform development.
