Job Description
Position Overview: This position is responsible for the support of the operation of the production department in a profitable and efficient manner through proper utilization of assigned manpower, materials, equipment, and space. Responsible for supporting the coordination of all activities within his/her scope of control and for setting priorities necessary to accomplish predetermined goals. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assures all plant safety/accident prevention policies are adhered to as stated in the coworker handbook. This includes maintaining a safe work environment and safe work practices, and accident investigation when necessary. Holds coworkers accountable for non-compliance. Recognizes employee's for proactivity.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient startup and shutdown of equipment as well as ensuring the machinery is producing quality product through routine data review and audits.
- Ensures that housekeeping standards are met and exceeded throughout the facility.
- Supports the direction set forth by the shift supervisor.
- Partners with the Shift Supervisor to communicate all performance issues. Trains all direct reports to follow all rules, programs and procedures. Coaches coworkers to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for on-the-job training of coworkers. Instructs new or reassigned coworkers in the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Observes production operation to ascertain compliance with quality, safety, production standards, work rules, and efficient operation of equipment. Implements effective corrective actions and recommends preventative safety, production and quality measures.
- Preforms formal root cause analysis to identify points of failure in order to implement corrective actions to eliminate and optimize.
- Reports potential production downtime, scrap, and quality of each machine under the supervisor's responsibility and summarizes data from shift.
- Provides input to Shift Supervisor on all operators on a continuous basis for performance evaluation, corrective action and action plan purposes.
- Promotes and fosters a positive work environment for overall coworker engagement. Fosters teamwork.
- Responsible for proposing and actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed.
- Ability to start up and shutdown all pieces of production equipment.
- Learn new on the job skills as training opportunities become available.
- Directly supports the supervisor of the production shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training coworkers; planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED with three years of experience in production environment with leadership responsibility
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
