Position Summary The Precision Antimicrobial Laboratory of Dr. Zackery Bulman in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill a Research Specialist position in the area of microbiology (https://idg.pharmacy.uic.edu/research-2/bulman-lab/). The Research Specialist will primarily be responsible for the design and conduct of in vitro microbiology studies in the area of antimicrobial pharmacology. More information about the College and Department of Pharmacy Practice can be found at https://pharmacy.uic.edu and https://dpp.pharmacy.uic.edu Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with principal investigator to develop, prepare, and execute research projects including, but not limited to, the following: infection models, susceptibility testing, and antimicrobial resistance experiments. Collect and document high-quality results and data that correspond to the research objectives. Maintain updated experimental protocols outlining equipment setup, data collection and data evaluation. Contribute material, prepare results, and assist in writing up findings. Organize and prepare daily research activities. Maintain well-organized laboratory space. Monitor and maintain lab inventory. Guide, train, and mentor lower-level researchers and students on techniques, methods, and procedures Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in science or related field required. Master's degree in science preferred. A minimum of 3 years related research experience. Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods. Proficient in specific lab research techniques. Preferred Qualifications A person with experience working in a microbiology lab, are self-driven, organized, and can demonstrate proficiency in various lab techniques is preferred.
