Job Overview
The Microsoft Cloud Automation Administrator at Chugach Government Solutions plays a pivotal role in advancing and streamlining our cloud infrastructure by leveraging sophisticated automation techniques and best practices. This role centers on the design, deployment, and continuous optimization of cloud-based automation solutions in both Azure and M365. Collaborating extensively with diverse technical teams and business functional teams, this administrator ensures robust, secure, scalable, and efficient operations. Work Model: Onsite/In-Office
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Automation Development and Management: Design, implement, and maintain robust cloud infrastructure automation using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
- Cloud Infrastructure Operations: Automate routine cloud administration tasks, including provisioning, configuration management, patch management, and resource optimization.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive proactive improvements to cloud infrastructure focusing on reliability, scalability, and security through systematic monitoring, evaluation, and refinement.
- Incident and Change Management: Actively participate in the troubleshooting, resolution, and documentation of incidents and perform structured change management activities to maintain high service quality.
- Collaboration and Communication: Engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams-cloud architects, software developers, security specialists-to align automation strategies with organizational goals and requirements.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure automation frameworks and cloud deployments meet established security protocols, regulatory compliance standards (such as FedRAMP, NIST), and best practices for secure identity management.
- Mentorship and Training: Act as a technical mentor, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and innovation among peers and junior staff.
- Documentation and Standards: Create and maintain accurate documentation for automation scripts, processes, and operational procedures to ensure transparency and repeatability.
- Strategy Implementation: Translate organizational strategies into practical, scalable, and secure automation solutions, proactively proposing enhancements and new technologies to leadership.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Interaction: Liaise with external vendors, cloud service providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful integration and operational effectiveness of automation solutions.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in cloud administration and infrastructure automation, specifically within Microsoft Azure environments.
- Proven expertise with automation tools and practices, particularly in Azure and M365.
- Strong knowledge of networking, virtualization, and identity management systems.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret or Top Secret security clearance
- Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to perform requirements and comply with emergency procedures.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
- Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
- Prior experience working within government or highly regulated sectors, familiar with FedRAMP and NIST compliance standards.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Government Community Cloud High
- Familiarity with container orchestration and management platforms.
- Active involvement or membership in relevant professional associations or communities (e.g., IEEE, ACM, Cloud Security Alliance).
- Agile, Lean, Six Sigma or related certification.
Working Conditions:
- This position is primarily performed in an office setting using standard office equipment (desk, computer, phone, printer, copier, etc.).
- Work may require occasional weekend work, evening work, and travel.
