Job Summary

Provide professional, first semester experience academic advising to students from industry and community partners, while providing student support efforts, improving retention and building persistence. Provide 1:1 initial advising and group advising while guiding onboarding, admissions and application processes. Coordinate and administer outreach services with community and industry partners to promote tuition assistance programs and benefit usage.

Essential Functions

40% - Provides professional-level "first semester" experience academic advisement to students from business and industry partners, to support student learning, persistence, and degree completion. Provides 1:1 as well as group academic advising, on-boarding, and academic advising and success support functions to students to ensure ongoing successful progress to completion of degree program. Provides guidance to students on goal setting, decision making, degree and certificate options, transfer pathways, course selection, registration, academic progress and satisfactory progress toward certificate/degree using PeopleSoft and other technology. Provides advice and consultation to students in selection of options best suited to student's goals, interests and skills. Work with multiple students simultaneously in a fast paced environment. Ability to work in a hybrid / in office environment.

20% -Coordinates and administers outreach services with business and industry partners to include but are not limited to: marketing/recruitment; enrollment services; academic advisement; in class presentations and workshops; and more. Works collaboratively and collegially with academic units and student services throughout the 10 Maricopa Community Colleges and across the district to facilitate comprehensive academic support.

20% - High levels of accuracy, customer service in person, phone, email, chat and other communication modes with follow up on leads on interest and inquires of student supporting student retention. Collects, inputs, modifies, and verifies student information into Online Student Information System including admissions, class registration, residency, transcripts, graduation requirements. Evaluates performance and provides feedback on occasion. Handles immediate or sensitive issues requiring confidentiality or quality assurance.

20% - Creates and prepares reports; collects data, researches, analyzes and interprets complex
information

10% Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

BachelorTMs Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Desired Qualifications

1. Master's Degree in Counseling, Education, Academic Advising, Sociology, a liberal arts or sciences discipline, or related field

2. One (1) or more years of experience teaching or providing academic or career advising in a college or university setting

3. Experience using online student databases (i.e., SIS, PeopleSoft, Banner)

4. Experience using technology to support academic advising/career advising/student success/student learning

5. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures

6. Experience applying academic or career advising approaches, theories, and/or competencies

7. Experience in working independently, prioritizing workflow, solving problems ,and making decisions

8. Experience developing and delivering presentations.

Special Working Conditions

Work with multiple students simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work in a hybrid / in-office environment. Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
