Onsite Sr. Lab Technician

In this role, you will report to the Site Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Hourly Rate:$27 - $30

Location:Novato, CA

Shift:Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm

What we're looking for

• Education: Associate's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotech, or a related field is required
• Experience: 1+ years of experience in a laboratory setting (research, clinical, or GxP)
• Collaboration Tool:Microsoft Office experience
• Knowledge of scientific products and services is a plus.
• Effective communication and teamwork in a lab environment
• Freezer defrosting and cleaning
• Laboratory equipment calibrations
• Experience with incubators
• Buffer and reagent preparation
• Inventory and supply chain management
• Laboratory safety and chemical hygiene
• Data recording and documentation best practices
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

• Calibrate, clean, and maintain lab instruments (balances, pH meters, etc.).
• Perform glassware washing and equipment verification.
• Defrost, clean and disinfect lab freezers and other cold temperature equipment to relocate lab samples
• Order, receive, and organize lab supplies and reagents.
• Maintain inventory of chemicals, glassware, and gas cylinders.
• Prepare buffers, media, and reagent mixtures.
• Perform filtrations, material weighing, and basic physical testing.
• Maintain lab notebooks and update electronic databases.
• Follow lab safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Manage hazardous waste disposal and maintain SDS records.
• Schedule equipment use and support lean/5S audits.
