Summary

Responsible for performing the physical or administrative tasks supporting the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary. Within parameters, determines routing and arrangements for shipments, considering such factors as nature of items being shipped, method of handling, size, urgency, and cost.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives incoming Customer Furnished Equipment ensuring precise accountability and control.
  • Prepares and maintains records of products shipped and tracks shipments.

  • Verifies quantity, quality, and conformance of materials to stated identifications.

  • Maintains records of received goods, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents. Stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.

  • Lifts heavy items and may operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, tow motors, forklifts, etc. upon receipt of internal certification.

  • Knowledge of material handling procedures and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.

  • May perform wood shop functions such as operating power saws and nail guns in building skids and crates.

  • Consults rate schedule for specific rates depending on method of shipment and/or distance shipped.

  • Assesses most economical and efficient common or contract carrier, to transport shipments.

  • Calculates and records storage, redelivery, and other applicable charges.

  • May reroute urgent shipments of an urgent nature or arrange for special delivery at destination.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma and minimum of 4 year of prior relevant experience or 2 years post- Secondary /Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Share Point, etc.)

  • Warehousing, receiving, shipping and forklift experience

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

  • Able to work in a warehouse environment.
  • Able to work to a flexible schedule and overtime as required.

  • Some travel may be required to assist with certain projects (e.g. Kaizens)

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to operate a personal computer.

  • Communicate via e-mail/telephone.

  • Ability to work overtime as required.

  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

  • Ability to see clearly at close range.
