Position Overview
This dual-role position combines Delivery Driving and Shipping & Receiving responsibilities. You will operate a box truck for local deliveries/pickups, handle incoming and outgoing shipments, and perform material handling tasks including forklift operation. This is a hands-on role requiring organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Duties
- Follow scheduled routes for daily deliveries and pickups to/from correct locations
- Operate a small to medium box truck in compliance with IDOT standards
- Load, secure, and unload products safely, ensuring inventory matches the shipping manifest
- Maintain all delivery paperwork and provide it to the appropriate personnel
- Inspect and clean delivery vehicle daily, complete logs, and report issues to the Shipping Supervisor
- Refuel vehicle as needed and maintain fuel receipts
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies for loading/unloading
- Enter and generate purchase orders for delivered products
Shipping & Receiving Duties
- Unload/load trucks using a forklift
- Receive materials per purchase orders; inspect goods for quality, quantity, and certification match
- Accurately package, label, and weigh shipments; ensure proper shipping method and charges
- Prepare accurate invoices and ensure items meet company packaging/shipping standards
- Work with other clerks to ensure prompt handling of invoices and proper storage of goods
- Deliver items to correct departments and store product in designated locations
- Perform quality checks and work with the quality department on nonconforming materials
- Enter lot numbers for traceability and conduct cycle counts
- Coordinate with purchasing/management on errors or issues
- Cross-train and perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain IDOT Medical Examination Certificate (provided by company)
- Certification for forklift operation
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience driving a box truck or medium to large vehicle
- Experience using MS Office and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Clean driving record with no moving violations
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and push/pull up to 400 lbs with a pallet jack
- Ability to stand for long periods (85-90% of shift)
- Availability to work overtime
Preferred
- Experience with hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts beyond certification requirements
- Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and math skills
