Job Summary
Radiation Oncology provides therapeutic services to cancer patients ranging in age from pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. This position supervises the radiation therapists in the operation of: CT/simulator, External Beam treatment machines and HOR units. The position is also responsible for administrative duties including facilitation of chart rounds and IMRT reviews, participating in the department committees for QA and CQI, working with the billing analyst to ensure appropriate coding and billing of charges, related scheduling, and other assignments and duties as needed from time to time. #CA-SB Apply By Date 8/25/2025 by 11:59pm Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Current certification by the State of California in Therapeutic Radiology and by the American Registry and Radiologic Techs in Radiation Therapy, RT (T) (ARRT). Continuing education hours must be completed to maintain registration.
- Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy, Radiation Science, or Health Care Administration.
- 7 years of work experience in Radiation Therapy.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Linear Accelerators, Radiation Therapy Simulators, Brachytherapy Equipment, related safely procedures and skills and experience to recognize when unsafe or hazardous conditions exist.
- Knowledge and understanding of current practices in radiation therapy, including high-dose-rate brachytherapy and treatment of pediatric patients.
- Ability to recognize and report any adverse reactions by patients to therapy and to remove IV from patient.
- Skills to work effectively with medical staff, to manage therapy unit and personnel, develop and maintain staffing schedules, and develop and maintain unit budget.
- Ability to prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, machine breakdowns, heavy patient volume and emergency cases.
- Ability to deal with the pressures of a critical care area.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and experience essential to daily operations in technical functions.
- Excellent judgment for decision making required. Originality and creativity required to augment ability to problem solve.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Continuing Quality Improvement processes.
- Requires discretion and close attention to confidentiality of departmental data and plans, including staff salary information, budget data, and planning/development discussions.
- Knowledge of university and department policies and procedures or ability to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- IV Contrast Administration Certification is preferred.
- Master's degree
- Past supervisory/management experience is strongly preferred.

Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Work Environment
