Lathrop GPM LLP, one of the nation's leading law firms, is currently seeking a business Litigation Paralegal for the Sacramento office. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional who possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, can multi-task, prioritize, and work both individually as well as part of a team. This person will be working in a fast-paced litigation practice and must be well versed in all phases of the legal process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle complex document management using firm software; assist with electronic document production and organizing onto common platforms for attorney review.
  • Drafts pleadings, discovery, briefs, memorandums, and correspondence.
  • Provide in court technical and administrative support.
  • Edits and proofread document for accuracy and compliance with applicable federal and state statutes and local rules.
  • Assist with trial preparation including preparation of depositions, exhibits, exhibit lists, witness lists, and demonstratives including PowerPoint presentation and/or timelines.
  • Support with discovery requests including subpoenas, interrogatories, request for productions, and others.
  • Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties.
  • Support with drafting pleadings, motions, and appellate documents; file same with State or Federal court.
  • Meets billable hour goal requirements established by the firm and enters time in a timely manner.
Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Possess a California Business and Professions Code 6450-compliant paralegal certificate or declaration.
  • At least one year of experience (1-3 years preferred) working as a Litigation Paralegal in a law firm.
  • Proficiency in e-discovery including experience with litigation technology systems, specifically, with Everlaw, Relativity, Case Notebook, OnCue, and/or HighQ.
  • Willingness to learn new software applications as required.
  • Ability to conduct legal research utilizing online tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.
  • Basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum.
  • Must be a team player and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently in high pressure, time sensitive situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with attention to detail.
  • Intermediate technical knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; ability to work with files in Portable Document Format; and ability to use client management databases, billing and docketing software and document management systems.
  • Organized, self-motivated professional.
  • Creative in finding solutions using existing technology to meet user demands.
  • Willingness to work in the office for at least 3 days each week and as needed to meet client needs.
  • Travels and works overtime when necessary.

Current anticipated salary range for applicants as required by applicable state laws is $37-$46 per hour depending on experience and other factors. Actual salary will vary and may be above or below the range. Full comprehensive benefit plan including health care, retirement plan and paid days off, including PTO, parental leave, and short/long term disability.
