Job Overview

The Senior, Occupational Health & Safety oversees the daily operations of the facility Safety Program and manages the assessment, treatment, and referral of colleagues with occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries. This role applies occupational health and safety principles to promote worker health and ensure a safe and healthy work environment. The Senior manages and executes the facility Health and Safety Program, oversees the Return to Work Program, and serves as the liaison between injured or ill colleagues and the benefits and workers' compensation departments. This position provides leadership in case management, health promotion, regulatory compliance (OSHA, FMLA, ADA, etc.), and risk reduction initiatives for the facility.

What You Will Do



  • Manage and execute the Supply Chain Safety Program, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, including document management, interfacing with OSHA personnel, and managing OSHA investigations.
  • Oversee all occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, including emergency response, assessment, first aid treatment, and referrals as appropriate.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims to ensure quality care and minimize financial impact.
  • Collaborate with building management to review colleague job performance, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines. Identify gaps, develop modifications to achieve compliance, and recommend training, coaching, or disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and injuries to determine root causes and recommend training, process changes, or other actions to reduce risks, prevent recurrences, and improve health and safety.
  • Analyze loss trends to identify risks and develop strategies to promote safety best practices and reduce accidents.
  • Develop and maintain a wellness program, including education and health promotion initiatives to minimize financial impact and promote colleague well-being.
  • Coordinate health and safety training programs, leveraging internal resources or outside vendors to ensure compliance and risk reduction.
  • Conduct facility inspections, provide recommendations for process improvements, and address areas needing enhancements to promote colleague health and safety.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert or team member to support process management teams in health and safety initiatives.
  • Establish business partnerships to address claims, work-related injuries, and overall safety, health, and wellness within the colleague population.
  • Coordinate facility training for first response teams and oversee the AED program.
  • Manage responses to occupational and environmental health concerns within the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with drug testing policies.
  • Develop and deliver specific health and safety training programs tailored to the needs of the location or network, with approval from the Director of Shortage and Risk Control.
  • Act as an integral partner in driving safety within the facility, escalating critical needs to appropriate internal and external business partners.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Occupational Health Expertise: Proficient in OSHA regulations, workers' compensation laws, and health and safety standards, with preferred certifications like COHN, COHN-S, or CSP.

Certifications: Current CPR/AED certification required (Instructor eligibility preferred); CSP certification is a plus.

Leadership and Influence: Experienced in managing teams, projects, and processes to achieve results and influence outcomes effectively.

Communication: Skilled in clear, concise communication, with the ability to inform and engage across functional levels.

Problem-Solving: Capable of investigating root causes, analyzing risks, and recommending solutions to improve safety and health outcomes.

Strategic Thinking: Demonstrates creative, strategic, and technical problem-solving to drive safety initiatives.

Training and Development: Competent in designing and delivering health and safety training programs tailored to organizational needs.

Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams and build partnerships to promote health and safety.

Program Management: Adept at executing and managing safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other tools for documentation and analysis.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. RN of OHS degree preferred. 5-7 years of Occupational Health / Safety experience or related nursing field preferred.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
