About this opportunity:

The role of the Purchasing Specialist is to own the operational relationship between MillerKnoll Retail Operations and suppliers. A successful Purchasing Specialist will perform daily activities in contribution to operational objectives such as supplier reliability and customer satisfaction. The Purchasing Specialist works closely with: Planning, Warehouse Operations, Logistics, Accounts Payable, Merchandising, Product Development, and Customer Service.

  • Build, maintain, and own close working relationships with assigned domestic and international suppliers, monitoring performance against expectations.

  • Primary point of contact and liaison between MillerKnoll retail teams and suppliers for all operational objectives.

  • Manage the purchase order life cycle for approximately $50 million of inventory across retail, contract, and extended lead time (ELT) product. This includes purchase order creation, acknowledgement, revision, shipment, closure. Promptly resolve any internal issues impacting production and partner withsuppliers to best meet business needs.

  • Identify shipment delay trends and actively mitigate potential business risks.

  • Hold suppliers accountable through creating and implementing solutions for service improvement and/or issuing chargebacks where applicable.

  • Assist Planning team with forecasting and purchasing to support the sales and margin goals.

  • Collaborate with Warehouse Operations and Accounts Payable, as needed, to research inventory receipt and invoice discrepancies.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

  • Bachelor's degree orequivalent experience

  • 1-2 years of experiencein Inventory or Supply Chain Planning

  • Ability to build strong relationshipswithin across-functionalteam environment

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations, problem solving, and making decisions

  • Natural curiosity with a drive to improve processes

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail

  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills, with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems

  • A keen passion for customer experience and service excellence

  • Based in the Tri-State area, Western Michigan or Batavia, Ohio
