Join a professional team of highly qualified engineers, analysts, scientists and technicians supporting the research, development, testing and evaluation of the missile defense system whose purpose is to detect, track, engage and destroy adversary missiles.

Your typical day - Our MDA analysts and engineers work in modern, well-appointed government facilities at Redstone Arsenal. Redstone is located in Huntsville, Alabama, otherwise known as "Rocket City." Huntsville is the hub of missile and space research and development. You will collaborate with other missile defense experts - military, government civilians, and contractors from Axient and other companies. Our team of experts helps the Government manage planning, development and delivery of state-of-the art sensors, weapons, communications, and command/control systems.

What are your specific duties? - The Missile Product Engineer will support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures Long Range Program Office (DTL). Your expertise will be applied across multiple products lines developing the next generation of reentry vehicles, rocket motors, and support equipment to create realistic test environments for the nation's missile defense systems.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the DTL Engineering team in all aspects of Target System's design, analysis, and test to include requirements development, production, qualification, integration, and flight test.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team of experts across multiple technical areas to develop engineering analysis and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables are met on time
  • Providing expert advice to product and component failure investigations and review boards
  • Represent the interests of the customer in Working Groups and Technical Interchange Meetings
  • Travel as required to support oversight, meetings, reviews, etc.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: BA/BS in a STEM related field
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance, which requires US Citizenship
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with enthusiasm and capacity to learn in a fast-paced environment

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Strong preference for experience working on large scale solid rocket motors, bulkhead initiators, ordnance modules, Flight Termination Systems, motor cases, aging & surveillance, muzzle design, and static fire testing.
  • Experience with transportation modes and impacts for rocket motors
  • Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes
  • Experience supporting MDA Flight Test, analysis, and review
  • Experience with the development of rocket motors, ground support launch equipment, and reentry vehicles
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical information to technical and non-technical personnel
