Regions Hospital has a great opportunity to join our nursing leadership team as an Inpatient Nurse Supervisor and Charge Nurse for our South 8 Cardiac Medicine/Progressive Care Unit and work with an incredible team of people who have a passion for caring for others. Our patient population on South 8 includes patients requiring general medicine or progressive level of care. We care for patients with complex medical needs and co-morbidities, including CHF, NSTEMI, chest pain, coronary artery disease, post-intervention sheath management, COPD, pneumonia or other cardio-respiratory problems, End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), peritoneal dialysis, liver failure, alcohol withdrawal and/or other intoxicants and much more! It's a great place to learn a wide variety of diseases processes and broaden clinical assessment skills. Our unit has a high number of daily admissions, discharges and transfers. South 8 also houses the remote telemetry cock pit which is staffed by specially trained PCAs who learn cardiac rhythm interpretation. Our nursing team cares for a diverse group of patients with a variety of care needs, and we pride ourselves on making connections with our patients and families to partner together.

The Supervisor will facilitate the successful functioning of the South 8 Unit through communication, working knowledge of departmental and hospital policy, and rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, and ancillary departments. Additionally, the Supervisor oversees day-to-day operation of the Unit and provides direct patient care as well as supervision of clinical inpatient staff.

Work Schedule: This 0.70 FTE position will work 0.40 FTE in the Supervisor role (4 shifts every pay period 2300-0730 or 1900-0330) and 0.30 FTE in the Charge RN role (two 12 hour shift every pay period 1900-0730).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Nursing OR Associate's degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in a Baccalaureate degree program in Nursing with an established date of completion required.
  • Two years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Two years' experience in nursing leadership (e.g. charge nurse, supervisor, etc.) or leadership position outside of nursing required. Clinical experience in area of specialty preferred.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota.
  • Demonstrates at the time of employment and every two years thereafter, competency in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
