Director of Admissions

Dover Behavioral Health System is a 104-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Dover, Delaware area. Job Responsibilities:

* Direct the facility's assessment activities including the patient intake process to include implementing, monitoring and evaluating the process to ensure effectiveness and delivers the highest level of patient satisfaction

* As a clinician, this position provides direction to the staff of Assessment Counselors in the provision of psychiatric assessment services, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals

* Responsible for all patient intake phone calls including providing timely and accurate information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professional staff (i.e. physicians, consulting professionals) who are requesting information regarding potential admissions

* Develop and maintain professional relationships with hospital intake departments, referral services and potential admission avenues, as well as alternate treatment resources when appropriate

* Perform personnel management duties including screening and selection of Assessment and Referral staff, providing department orientation and training, completing performance evaluations and giving feedback to the Human Resources Director

* Manage the staffing schedule of the department to ensure adequate coverage 24/7/365

* Maintain intake call, assessment and administrative documentation associated with services and ensure its effectiveness and efficiency to ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction

* Manage FTE standards and a department budget within corporate and facility guidelines and standards

* Develop and implement policies and procedures for assessments and referrals, ensuring the overall quality of services provided and maintain a Quality Improvement Plan

* Serve as a member of the Management Team and other committees, as assigned.

* Supervises communications staff (Receptionists) and provides coverage for the switchboard and ensure highest level of service is provided in the hospital lobby


Qualifications

* MA, MS, MSW or RN

* Two years' experience in behavioral health

* Two years management experience
