Role Description:

The Operations Analyst is responsible for developing and analyzing reports on projects, goal initiatives and operational activities to support the operations needs in various departments at DC Water. The role involves analyzing data, identifying trends, and providing insights to inform decision-making, improving efficiency, and optimizing performance in key operational areas.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Develops, updates, and tracks critical operational metrics, including operational expenses and budget, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and reports to the stakeholders.
  • Ensures all business planning tools used in operations are accurate, updated, maintained and available for use for decision making and control.
  • Analyses and reports critical financial implications of operations activities and recommends process and efficiency improvements to support day to day operations.
  • Analyzes performance metrics and benchmarks data to identify strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats for DC Water's operations.
  • Uses historical data and trends to forecast future performance, resource requirements, and potential risks, supporting strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Ensures data accuracy and integrity in reporting and analysis, performing validation checks and reconciliations as needed to maintain data quality.
  • Supports CIP cycle by developing project requirements, conducting risk rankings, and monitoring progress.
  • Supports the immediate supervisor with the preparation of internal and external reports, including reports for regulatory compliance.
  • Conducts ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by management, providing insights and recommendations to address specific operational challenges or opportunities.
  • Collaborates with internal and external resources to identify, define, and resolve complex operational problems.
  • Represents the department of DC Water and industry-wide benchmarking efforts.
  • Conducts basic training for new hires on departmental functions and responsibilities towards the customers and environment.
  • Works with program managers to update and maintain operational documentation including SOPs, Operating Plans, and asset lists.
  • Assists in developing short and long-term strategies to meet process and performance objectives.
  • Collaborates with other departments for data sharing and provides analytical support to staff throughout DC Water on information systems such as SCADA and Maximo.
  • Performs other related duties and projects in the direction of the immediate supervisor.

Required Experience:
Three (3) years of progressive experience related to operations analysis, focusing on operational metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field from an accredited college or university.

Physical Requirements:
General office environment.
The person in this position may occasionally be exposed to adverse weather conditions visiting other sites.
