Are you looking for an opportunity to provide maintenance support to the outstanding research center in the Baltimore/Washington area? Do you have experience with industrial equipment /plumbing maintenance and repair in an industrial facility?

If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a motivated teammate to perform preventive maintenance, equipment diagnostics and repairs on a wide variety of equipment.

As an APL Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will ...

Work hands on with a variety of machines such as exhaust fans, air compressors, pumps, fans, belts, bearings, filter changes, air handlers, cooling towers, plumbing systems etc. Typically, carry out assignments under minimal direction.

Perform corrective maintenance on plant facilities equipment to restore operational capability.

Respond to and mitigate negative impact of equipment failures on all APL facilities while keeping your leadership aware of situational status.


Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have the skills and knowledge normally associated with the completion of a training curriculum and 4 to 7 years' maintenance/plumbing experience at the journeyman or higher level.
  • Maintain a Maryland Journeyperson Plumbing/HVAC License or equivalent.
  • Have knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Maximo preferred.
  • Are able use hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and the knowledge of applicable Plumbing and related codes.
  • Have experience reading blueprints, sketches, diagrams, O&M Manuals.
  • Proven ability to read, write and understand spoken instructions to install required work and independently work in both routine and emergency situations by using personal computers, schematics and plans.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and will be subject to a driving record evaluation.
  • Are able to work the day shift, Monday through Friday, with possible overtime and emergency call-ins, will wear safety shoes, safety glasses, and other personal protective and safety equipment and work outside in inclement weather conditions.
  • Have the ability to operate a forklift, APL vehicles, industrial equipment, and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Requires valid state-of-residence driver's license in good standing.
  • Hold US Citizenship or permanent resident status, as required to access APL's facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
