JOB TITLE:

Assistant Professor - Management

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The department is re-launching a Supply-Chain Management (SCM) Track within its management degree and currently offers a Hospitality Management Track in collaboration with the Jay Kemmerer WORTH Institute. We seek applicants whose professional background aligns with traditional SCM or operations management faculty and who can contribute to the Hospitality Management Track.
  • Teaching: Demonstrate a passion for innovative, experiential-oriented teaching to contribute to the department's strong teaching reputation. The standard teaching load for research-active faculty is a four course load typically teaching two in the fall and two in the spring. Ability to teach in traditional face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats to diverse student populations is required.
  • Research: Conduct high-quality, peer-reviewed research resulting in publications in leading journals, and contribute to the growing research culture of the department. The department provides competitive funding, and the college offers summer funding opportunities and research grants to support research.
  • Service: Serve as a faculty lead for the Hospitality Management and SCM Tracks of the Management Major. Engage in service activities that contribute to the college's strategic initiatives and student organizations.

The College of Business

The University of Wyoming College of Business (http://www.uwyo.edu/business/) is AACSB accredited and is located in a state-of-the-art, Leeds-certified building. The College currently offers undergraduate degrees in marketing, management, accounting, economics, and finance. Within the marketing degree, the College offers both a digital marketing and a professional selling focus. The College offers Master of Business Administration degrees, master's degrees in accounting, economics, and finance, and Ph.D. degrees in marketing, management, and economics. The college has recently undertaken several major initiatives including the creation of the Green-Johnson Student Success Center, the Center for Professional Selling, the Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation, the Center for Principle-Based Leadership and Ethics, and a campus-wide entrepreneurship program. The College has a reputation of stakeholder engagement and regularly supports outreach initiatives such as the Jackson Leadership Conference and the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede. Finally, the college prioritizes student experiences and has worked with generous donors to create extra-curricular learning events such as the Elbogen 50k Entrepreneurship Competition, the Daniels Fund Business Ethics Case Competition, and several sales competitions.

The Management & Marketing Department

The Department of Management and Marketing comprises faculty in management, marketing, entrepreneurship, sales, SCM, business ethics, and business law. Faculty members have published in high-quality journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, Leadership Quarterly, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Business Ethics, Strategic Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of World Business, and Organization Science. The faculty are known for innovative teaching and collaboration with external partners to create real-world project opportunities for students. The department fosters a culture of collegiality and partnership.

WORK LOCATION:

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

By Fall 2026, candidates should hold a Ph.D. in management (SCM or Operations) or a closely related discipline and a professional record demonstrating competencies for service industry or hospitality management academic work. Interested candidates who are ABD must have completed their dissertation on or before August 2025. Candidates for the position should demonstrate potential for innovative teaching, a strong research program, and innovative program building relative to the described position. Candidates must be able to teach in traditional face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats to diverse populations of students. Finally, candidates must show a propensity for collegiality.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A demonstrated record of research publication in high-quality journals such as those listed on the Financial Times 50 and the Association of Business School's journal lists. Evidence of on-going high-quality research publication potential. An excellent teaching record with evidence of innovative, experiential-oriented methods. A strong service record including evidence of the ability to advise student organizations and effectively contribute to college strategic initiatives. Two or more years of professional work experience in the service or hospitality industries.
