The Position Job TitleFair Banking Analyst Job Description

Summary

The Compliance Fair Banking Analyst is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and administration of First United Bank's Fair Banking and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Programs.

In this role, the Fair Banking Analyst conducts loan-level reviews based on statistical analysis results, investigates and resolves customer complaints to ensure regulatory compliance and improve customer satisfaction, and supports CRA compliance by helping the Bank meet the credit needs of its communities, particularly low- and moderate-income areas.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct comparative file reviews for Fair Lending, including underwriting, pricing, and loan decisioning, to identify potential disparities or risks.
  • Conducts event-driven Fair Banking reviews and scheduled testing of regulations to ensure compliance: testing, analyzing, making recommendations, summarize, and communicate findings to management, both verbally and in writing.
  • Conduct branching assessments to identify potential service gaps.
  • Review community development loans, services, and investments for CRA qualification, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory definitions.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting for business lines, as well as goals reporting and status updates on qualified activities.
  • Review, categorize, and monitor resolution of complaints and issues; assist in identifying trends to assess Fair Banking risk and the effectiveness of controls.
  • Assists with the administration of Fair Lending & CRA Software.
  • Perform other assignments as requested.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as requested by Executive Management or Supervisor.
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Dresses professionally.
  • Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department

Employee Specifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent job-related experience.
  • Prior experience as an Underwriter in a financial services or secondary mortgage banking environment would be preferred.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years experience working with fair lending related regulations (i.e. HMDA, ECOA, FHA, UDAAP,CRA)
  • Experience with HMDA file reviews is preferred.
  • Experience with loan origination systems is preferred.

Technical/Functional Competencies

  • Ability to communicate well, by all means of communication, including written, verbal, and non-verbal communication.
  • Detail Knowledge of all regulatory requirements relating to the Bank.
  • Effective and efficient time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Prefer experience with Jack Henry or other financial management software.
  • Candidate should possess the ability to quickly grasp complex rules and guidelines.
  • Candidate should enjoy a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Candidate should possess strong analytical skills and be attentive to detail.
  • Candidate should be courteous and friendly, but able to deal professionally with a variety of personality types.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are a must.
  • Candidate should be both self-motivated, and a team player.
  • Demonstrates good judgment.
  • Willingness to accept additional responsibilities.
  • Dependable and adheres to time lines, and schedules, and is able to prioritize tasks.
  • Must have strong organizational skills to accommodate for the high-volume workplace.
  • Candidate should be comfortable making and answering phone calls.
