Description
We're seeking a Principal Project Manager to lead one or more workstreams within our enterprise SAP S/4HANA Business Transformation Project-owning planning, execution, and monitoring to deliver on time, within scope, and within budget. You will orchestrate complex, cross-functional initiatives across IT and the business, drive rigorous risk and change management, and ensure high-quality project artifacts and governance throughout the lifecycle. You will also help create management systems to monitor and execute the project.
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Lead one or more workstreams within the SAP S/4HANA Business Transformation implementation project from concept to go-live and post-implementation support
  • Plan & deliver: Develop and manage integrated project/workstream schedules (activities, milestones, deliverables) and ensure commitments are met across scope, schedule, and budget
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution
  • Manage stakeholder communication, providing regular updates on progress, risks, and mitigation strategies
  • Ensure adherence to SAP Activate methodology and project management best practices
  • Support data migration, system integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Help drive change management and facilitate training for end-users
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Governance & communication: Provide regular status updates and phase reviews; represent the program in governance forums and communicate with varying audiences, including senior leadership
  • Risk & issue management: Support identification, analysis, and mitigation planning for risks and dependencies across workstreams
  • Standards & artifacts: Ensure all documentation and reporting adhere to defined standard work; contribute to the continuous improvement of PM tools, methodologies, and templates
  • People leadership: Mobilize and motivate teams without direct reporting lines; may include coaching and performance input for project management personnel
Who You Are:
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related field
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid)
  • Proficiency in project management tools
  • 10+ years of project management experience leading cross-functional initiatives (principal-level scope expected)
  • Demonstrated success navigating a global matrix organization, influencing without authority, and managing competing stakeholder needs
  • Strong knowledge of Steelcase business processes and the ability to link project goals to corporate initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong negotiation, problem solving, critical thinking, and business/technical acumen
Preferred Skills and Competencies
  • Proven experience with SAP S/4HANA implementation
  • 12+ years of project management experience; principal-level leadership of large, complex programs
  • Experience leading large-scale application development, systems integration, process re-engineering, and infrastructure deployments
  • Expertise with PM software/tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, SAP, Tableau familiarity a plus)
  • PMP certification and/or SAP Activate certification
  • Primarily office/hybrid; occasional travel; some assignments may require time in manufacturing areas

The annual base salary range for this position is $133,800 - $209,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Steelcase considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
