Covia is looking for a dynamic and diverse Production Lead who will have a positive impact on the Production Team team at its Lugoff, SC location. As a Production Lead, you will assist a team in producing customer products in a safe and productive manner while maintaining product quality. The Lead will also be a staple for safety compliance here at Lugoff, SC.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Communicate safety related items with key personnel at shift change, daily.
  • Assist with the assignment of work duties in a timely manner at the beginning of each shift.
  • Assist with all product changes.
  • Monitor and assist product loading and unloading.
  • Check and distribute necessary paperwork.
  • Assist in process operation when necessary.
  • Operate heavy equipment when necessary.
  • Assist in maintenance related tasks when necessary.
  • Monitor processes, warehouses, and all area clean up to ensure safety compliance.
  • Perform daily housekeeping audits and advise as necessary.
  • Ensure all dust collection is working properly.
  • Perform all duties, as necessary to complete all tasks.
  • Lead all safety related items.
  • Perform process inspection audits for compliance.
  • Perform employee safety audits for compliance.
  • Revise and develop safety related manuals annually.
  • Revise safety policies and procedures as necessary and communicate changes.
  • Perform all Monthly safety meetings and attend monthly corporate safety meetings.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
  • Perform annual Industrial Hygiene Sampling to completion. (Welding, Dust and Noise)
  • Ensure all Industrial Hygiene equipment is operational and compliant.
  • Complete quarterly dust monitoring and ergonomic continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform Monthly Fire extinguisher inspections and coordinate annual inspections with outside contractors.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Audit process's daily inspection forms.
  • Lead MSHA regulatory inspections.
  • Perform ICAM investigations when necessary.
  • Procure safety-related equipment and items.
  • Ensure the site has adequate stock of PPE.
  • Schedule and coordinate annual health screening to full completion.
  • Schedule and coordinate annual refresher training. Ensure everyone is compliant.
  • Complete new miner training with new employees.
  • Assist in the completion of safety-related items involved with mobile equipment task training.
  • Ensure all MSHA requirements are completed with documentation.
  • Report on all Safety related incidents.
  • Submit monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Assist with procurement related tasks.



    The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



      • High School Diploma or GED required.
      • Literacy in English, both verbally and written.
      • Previous experience within mining operations (preferably sand) preferred, but not required.
      • Prior exposure to an understanding of operational equipment in sand preferred, but not required.
      • Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment adequately.
      • Ability to hand out work tasks in a fair and tactful manner.
      • Preference given to candidates that have previous experience leading a similar type of production crew.
      • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, a plus.
