GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under the general supervision of the Superintendent, the Director of STEM Education provides leadership and oversees the development, direction, and curriculum of the K-12 STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs at all Oasis Charter School sites in a safe and cost-effective manner that supports the goals of the Cape Coral Charter School Authority (CCCSA).


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Since every duty associated with this position may not be described herein, employees may be required to perform duties not specifically spelled out but may be considered incidental in the performance of this job.

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership for the STEM programs across all Cape Coral Charter School Authority K-12 schools, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and student outcomes.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the K-12 STEM curriculum, ensuring vertical alignment and coherence across all grade levels and schools.
  • Guides curriculum development in all STEM related areas, ensuring students build skills that support future academic success and real-world application.
  • Manages program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational priorities. Secures funding for equipment, tools, and resources to sustain and grow the STEM program.
  • Identifies and applies for relevant grant opportunities to support program initiatives; tracks and reports on the use and effectiveness of awarded funds.
  • Collaborates with school administrators, instructional staff, and STEM teachers to implement and monitor program effectiveness; ensures educators have access to appropriate training, professional development, and instructional resources.
  • Designs, supports, and evaluates instructional programs, materials, and industry-related workforce development projects that reflect current STEM and technology trends.
  • Supervises the activities of all K-12 content specified programs and workforce development projects, ensuring alignment with educational standards and industry needs.
  • Establishes and maintains community and industry partnerships to support student research, internships, and project-based learning opportunities. Engages subject-matter experts to provide real-world insight and support curriculum development.
  • Promotes community engagement by maintaining effective communication with staff, students, families, and community members.
  • Participates in and leads committees related to K-12 specified content area and/or industry-related workforce development projects; performs ongoing site visits to monitor program implementation and effectiveness.
  • Integrates project-based learning, design thinking, inquiry-based learning, and various technologies into the STEM curriculum to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborates with leadership to update and implement technology integration goals. Serves as a resource for instructional technology and provides guidance on emerging tools, including artificial intelligence in education.
  • Recommends evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve STEM performance for all students in grades K-12.
  • Analyzes and interprets academic data and assessment results to inform instructional planning strategies and support academic improvement.
  • Ensures compliance withcharter, state, and federal reporting requirements related to program responsibility.
  • Develops and delivers professional development activities staff in STEM instruction, workforce development, and related content areas, ensuring alignment with program goals and fidelity of implementation.
  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement by modeling a commitment to learning, innovation, and educational excellence.
  • Contributes to employee retention by supporting a positive, professional work environment and promoting collaboration and morale across departments.
  • Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Alternatives to the minimum qualifications can be made by the Board as they find appropriate and acceptable.
Education:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, education, or a related field.
Experience:
  • Five (5) years of STEM teaching experience (science/mathematics preferred); With at least three (3) years of experience with progressively responsible supervisory and/or administrative duties.
  • Significant demonstrated success working with peers and school professional development.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Mathematics, Science, Administration or Education Leadership preferred.

ADDITIONAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong leadership skills, including coordination and/or management of remote teams and project development.
  • Clear and concise oral, written, and public communication skills; leadership and strategic thinking skills; analytical, organizational, and management skills.
  • Knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of project management, planning, training, budgeting, and supervision.
  • Knowledge of and experience in grant writing and grant management.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to work effectively under the stress of deadlines, volume of workload, and multitasking requirements.
  • Ability to organize self, prioritize tasks and maintain a high level of energy in a fast-paced environment to provide efficient services.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor during stressful and highly visible situations.
  • Ability to analyze data and use data-driven decision making to implement effective programs.
  • Bilingual skills are encouraged.
