Position Summary
The Senior Installation Analyst will support the installation, integration, and testing of U.S. Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems onboard surface ships and submarines. The SME will serve as the technical authority for shipboard system alterations, ensuring compliance with Navy standards, shipboard integration requirements, and cybersecurity policies. This position requires hands-on experience with Navy shipboard environments, AIT processes, and the full lifecycle of system installation and modernization activities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead technical advisor for C4I system alterations and installations onboard Navy ships in accordance with NAVSEA, SPAWAR/NAVWAR, and Type Commander requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute AIT installation activities including system removal, hardware installation, cabling, network integration, and equipment alignment.
- Interpret and apply Installation Design Packages (IDPs), Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs), Functional Interface Drawings (FIDs), and other technical documentation.
- Oversee and conduct ship checks, site surveys, and readiness assessments to validate platform configuration prior to installation.
- Ensure adherence to shipyard safety protocols, quality assurance requirements, and Navy standards such as MIL-STD 2042 (fiber optics), MIL-STD 1310 (cabling), and applicable NAVSEA installation standards.
- Manage system integration and interoperability testing, including Harbor Acceptance Testing (HAT) and Shipboard Operational Verification Testing (SOVT).
- Support Configuration Management (CM), logistics documentation, and Installation Completion Reports (ICR).
- Provide on-site SME support to ship's force, government representatives, and other stakeholders during installation, testing, and turnover.
- Ensure cybersecurity compliance of installed systems in accordance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Information Assurance (IA) requirements.
- Train and mentor junior technicians and engineers on shipboard installation practices, troubleshooting, and system sustainment.
Qualifications
Education/Licensure/Credentials
Required:
- This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level. Individual must be able to maintain the necessary security clearance/eligibility for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's of science or equivalent years of experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years' experience supporting Navy C4I system installation, modernization, or sustainment.
- Demonstrated experience as part of an Alteration Installation Team (AIT) for shipboard C4I or Combat Systems.
- Proficiency in interpreting Navy technical documentation (SIDs, FIDs, IDPs, TDPs).
- Hands-on experience with Navy shipboard systems such as Link 16, CANES, ADNS, GCCS-M/J, NMT, CENTRIXS, or related C4I networks.
- Strong knowledge of shipboard safety, quality assurance, and integration practices.
- Ability to travel to shipyards, fleet concentration areas, and overseas ports as required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be able to travel 10% or as needed.
- Job Located at a U.S. Government Facility
Preferred:
- Former Navy ET/IT/FC/CE rating or civilian equivalent with shipboard installation experience.
- Experience coordinating with NAVWAR, NAVSEA, Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs), and Type Commanders.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, QA checklists, and SOVT procedures.
- Technical certifications (Fiber Optics Installer, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, etc
Experience
Required:
- Must have experience with test, analysis, and troubleshooting complex communications hardware problems for development and/or modification to C4I system hardware components.
- Experience in design, installation, integration, and testing of complex communications systems.
- Ability to operate effectively in a team environment as well as independently and provide direct interface with customers.
- Familiarity with C4I systems
- Experience with commercial and militarized documentation and configuration management.
- Four or more years in a C5I or C4I-SR military or DoD environment performing system validation, installation, and repair.
