Description

Shive-Hattery's West Des Moines office has an immediate opening for an entry level Commissioning Technician.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed accredited program in Building Technology, Construction Management, or Drafting with an emphasis on mechanical systems preferred. Construction industry or other higher education degrees and experience will be considered.
  • Experience with AutoCad and 3D Revit modeling preferred but is not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to collaborate with other design team members and have good interpersonal skills. Team members will be located in various Shive-Hattery office locations.
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment and communicate with Project Team members on progress and challenges.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work legally in the United States for any length of time.
  • Ability to drive and have access to vehicle
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms and open grating.
  • Travel is required for this position
Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team environment and coordinate with other mechanical team members and other disciplines such as electrical, structural, civil, and architects.
  • Develop pre-functional and functional checklist forms.
  • Perform pre-functional checks of HVAC and plumbing systems
  • Complete pre-functional and functional checklists forms.
  • Review project submittals
  • Document deficiencies and maintain issues log within commissioning software
  • Participation in internal and external meetings to coordinate work
  • Manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, delegating, and prioritizing commissioning and design workload
  • Work under the supervision of mechanical engineers
  • Other responsibilities may include drafting assistance using AutoCad and/or Revit, project site visits to assist with data collection, 3D scanning, and construction observation.
  • Candidate will work as part of a team and will be assigned to several projects simultaneously
