Manager Mechanical Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Team Lead to oversee a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and drafters in Huntsville, AL. In this role, you will be responsible for driving project success through effective leadership, innovative mechanical design solutions, and adherence to industry standards. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated engineer with strong leadership skills, demonstrated technical expertise, and proven management experience in complex engineering projects.

Team Leadership & Supervision:
* Lead and supervise a diverse team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
* Mentor team members through goal setting, performance evaluations, and professional development.
* Operate independently to manage team assignments and deliverables.

Mechanical Engineering Output:
* Accountable for the quality and efficiency of mechanical engineering outputs.
* Oversee the mechanical design process to ensure designs meet cost, manufacturability, and customer requirements.

Project Participation:
* Actively participate in proposal development, including ROM and BoE creation, and resource planning.
* Contribute to engineering meetings (internal, customer, or business-related) to ensure alignment with project objectives.

Design & Technical Leadership:
* Drive projects to achieve design excellence through cost-effective and innovative solutions.
* Utilize 3D CAD design software (preferably CREO) for robust design and development.
* Produce detailed drawings and graphic sheets adhering to ASME Standards, GD&T, and other relevant guidelines.
* Apply FEA, design analysis, and manufacturing method expertise to optimize design outcomes.
* Leverage electronics packaging and military vehicle integration experience to enhance project deliverables (preferred).

Budget & Schedule Management:
* Integrate budget, cost, and scheduling considerations into overall design assignments.
* Ensure projects remain on track financially and temporally through effective resource management.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with a substantial portion in team leadership.
• Experience in electronics packaging and military vehicle integration is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both internal teams and customers.
