Summary:

Preparation and processing of payroll, maintenance of time and attendance, and support of the Accounting Management Team in the day-to-day operations of accounting functions. Adherence to hospital pay policies, as well as payroll laws and regulations. Accurate record keeping facilitating annual audits. Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end responsibilities as they relate to payroll. Provide excellent customer service to leadership, HR teams, teammates, and UNC systems.

Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate and coordinate the entire biweekly payroll process and timekeeping operations. Review timekeeping reports to identify and correct discrepancies. Review and ensure accuracy of earnings and deductions during the payroll process.

2. Assist and support payroll systems, including INFOR WFM and GHR applications. Assist with continual monthly INFOR testing and CU updates, as directed by Payroll Supervisor.

3. Train staff for timekeeping systems when updates occur, as well as "new" WFM timekeepers and supervising staff.

4. Upload into ADP Smart Compliance website biweekly wage payments (direct deposits and Wisley cards), tax filings, ensuring uploads are reconciled and processed timely. Partner with ADP personnel to develop efficient working relationships.

5. Provide ADP support to existing and new teammates, including registration codes, password resets, and personal data information corrections.

6. Develop an effective "business partner" relationship with the HR and benefits teams, with both the hospital and UNC systems.

7. Assists Payroll supervisor with payroll projects, collaborating with ISD and HR regarding system maintenance, development, and configuration changes.

8. Support the integrity, completeness and timeliness of the solutions for any system implementations. Assists with data validation.

9. Ensure compliance with payroll-related regulations regarding wage garnishments and other deductions.

10. Uphold and ensure compliance with hospital pay policies. Adhere to federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. Stay current on changing tax laws and regulations.

11. Maintain accurate records ensuring proper documentation of all payroll transactions are filed and organized.

12. Assist with providing various timekeeping and payroll reports for leadership or HR. Provide statistical data to Staff Accountants.

13. Assist with any payroll (compensation), financial and worker's comp audits.

14. Assist with all monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings and reporting, including W2s and W2-Cs.

15. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers regarding payroll matters. Answer queries on Payroll inbox and respond to all inquiries related to teammate payments, leadership questions or requests, and HR inquiries.

16. Other accounting duties or requests assigned by Payroll Supervisor, Controller, or CFO.

Other information:

Education

High School diploma required, associate's degree in accounting, business or finance from a recognized college preferred.

Licensure/Certification

None are required; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

Experience

* Minimum two (2) years of payroll experience preferred, preferably in a healthcare-related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* In depth knowledge of Fed/NC payroll laws and regulations.

* Knowledge of INFOR and/or ADP systems, preferred.

* Highly proficient with MS Office tools, Excel, able to learn new software rapidly.

* Reliable along with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

* Good problem solving and analytical skills.

* Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner.

* Must be detail oriented, organized, confidential, professional, and a team player.

* Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

Valid NC Driver's License: No

If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
