Posting Summary
The Director of Operations and Administration at the Rutgers University-Camden School of Nursing ( SNC) will closely collaborate with the Dean, serving as a key member of the leadership team. This role involves providing leadership, communications management, strategy execution, operations management, planning, organizational assessment, and coordination of day-to-day oversight of school operations. This position is common in other schools across campus thus mirrors the areas of responsibility. Working with the Dean, Senior Associate Deans, Associate Deans, Business Manager, and Department Chairs, the Director will develop and execute strategic communication and direction for enhance operational efficiencies and maximize resources. Responsibilities include coordinating operations, facilities, human resources, security, and managing special projects as directed by the Dean.
The Director will provide direct project support to the Dean, managing priorities, deadlines, and expectations for special projects. This includes developing, executing project plans, and frequent communication that is confidential as needed. Additionally, the Director will coordinate recurring commitments such as committee, council, board, staff, faculty, and budget meetings. Duties also encompass preparing necessary documents, including agendas, task lists, and presentations, along with logistical and operational support for various projects, events, and faculty/staff searches.
The Director will serve as the human resource management unit liaison, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. Responsibilities include collaborating closely with the SNC business manager and other campus business partners, to develop and execute staffing strategies aligned with strategy, mission, goals and direction of the SNC. The director will work closely with hiring managers to ensure available resources so they may effectively manage their teams and will be responsible to develop effective and efficient workflows and processes for the SNC which support the relevant business processes. The director will work collaboratively with hiring managers to ensure effective human resource management, communication with the dean on staffing challenges, and will defer to the appropriate human resources business partner in Camden Human Resources to resolve staffing challenges.
The Director will manage short and long-term projects, contribute to strategic planning for the SNC, and oversee facilities management, communicating any issues and ensuring proper use of space and equipment.

Salary Details Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, within university policy and salary schedules, as well as departmental budgets.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Dynamic and positive leadership skills are essential to the effective implementation of this position. Qualifications for the role include a bachelor's degree and five or more years of relevant experience in higher education administration. Networking and bridge building with internal and external stakeholders within the Rutgers-Camden region is expected. Attention to detail, forward thinking, innovative, creative, enthusiastic with acute problem solving and people skills is critical.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Seven or more years of leadership experience in higher education
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan, execute, and evaluate project effectiveness
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive/Docs, and other relevant university software systems.

Equipment Utilized
Computer programs such as Microsoft office and evaluation tools, a working knowledge of Peoplesoft, HCM, Canvas is also required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
  • The person in this role must be able to independently lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
