Your responsibilities:

The Director of Asset Protection provides overall strategic direction and leadership for The GIANT Company's Asset Protection (AP) function. This role safeguards company assets while championing team member and customer safety by leading shrink reduction strategies, overseeing investigations, developing talent, and driving cross-functional collaboration. The Director partners closely with Operations, Shrink, Investigations, and law enforcement agencies to ensure programs deliver measurable results that reduce shrink, enhance safety, and protect profitability.

How You Will Make a Difference?

Strategic Leadership & Oversight

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Asset Protection business plan aligned with company goals.
  • Provide direction and oversight for regional AP Managers and AP teams, ensuring consistent execution of strategies across all regions.
  • Partner with Division Presidents, and Store Managers to align staffing, training, and resource deployment with business needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Asset Protection and senior leadership to influence decision-making and resource allocation.

Shrink Reduction & Operational Partnership

  • Direct the execution of shrink strategies through collaboration with Operations, Shrink Leads, and Store Management.
  • Establish key metrics and reporting processes to monitor shrink trends, analyze root causes, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Communicate the financial and operational impact of shrink to leadership, creating accountability across functions.

Investigations & Risk Management

  • Oversee large-scale investigations into theft, fraud, and organized retail crime (ORC), ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
  • Partner with corporate investigations and external agencies, including law enforcement and legal teams, to support case outcomes.
  • Ensure all physical, informational, and personnel security measures are consistently maintained across facilities.

Crisis & Security Oversight

  • Lead the development of crisis management and emergency response strategies.
  • Ensure security systems, technology, and vendor partnerships meet company standards and are effectively maintained.
  • Provide guidance during high-risk incidents, serving as a subject matter expert and escalation point.

Team Member & Customer Safety

  • Champion a culture of safety across all stores, distribution centers, and facilities.
  • Partner with Operations to develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Regularly assess facilities to identify risks, ensuring proactive mitigation to protect both team members and customers.
  • Lead awareness campaigns that reinforce the importance of safety in creating a positive shopping and working environment.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Recruit, coach, and develop AP leaders and team members to build strong pipelines for future leadership roles.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and security awareness across all stores and support teams.
  • Deliver coaching, training, and mentorship to strengthen investigative, compliance, and operational skills across the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or related leadership experience, preferably in retail.
  • Experience overseeing large-scale investigations and implementing enterprise-wide shrink reduction programs.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard surveillance, investigative, and security technologies.
  • Travel required within the organization and as needed across company locations.
  • Flexible schedule to work within the needs of the business.
