Technician III- Quality

Principal Purpose of Position:

  • Using knowledge of various test equipment (hardware & software) in own area, carries out complex chemical analysis requests from all areas of the Corporation including our customers with minimal supervision.

  • Collect, report and interpret the data from these analyses.

  • Makes recommendations and troubleshoots chemical analysis based on interpretation of results.

  • Set up, operate and maintain various pieces of test equipment and complete advanced preventative and corrective repairs as required.

  • Prepare samples for chemical analysis and make up solutions used in various analytical procedures. Investigate possible modification of prescribed analytical procedures to improve precision and accuracy and makes recommendations to management.

  • Demonstrate detailed understanding of analytical methods and instrumentation and complete method development as needed.

  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and/or Training:

  • High School Diploma required, Associate's Degree in Chemical Technology, preferred.

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Five or more years' experience in a laboratory environment.

  • Has developed specialized knowledge and skills in own department or area.

  • Completes work assignments independently or with minimal supervision/guidance.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

  • May coordinate activities of others.

  • Specialized knowledge of chemical analyses and testing procedures.

  • Specialized knowledge of appropriate test equipment including both hardware and software.

  • Specialized knowledge of analytical chemistry methodology.

  • Solves moderately complex problems; makes recommendations to improve standard procedures and/or processes.

  • Anticipates and understands customer needs and identifies solutions to nonstandard requests.

  • Manages own time to meet objectives and is proactive in offering help to others.

  • Contributes to achievement of team goals within own area or department; promotes teamwork through understanding of broader team goals.

  • Ensures a safe workplace.

  • Promotes ways to improve the quality of life and protect the environment in the communities in which the Company does business.
