Summary

Responsible for performing a variety of janitorial or custodial tasks in order to maintain a clean and safe buildings and grounds. Also provides additional support to other Facility Maintenance staff as needed or assigned.



Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes Janitorial Checklist assignments
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning and break room supplies; place orders with outside vendor as needed
  • Sweep and mop floors to ensure there are no oil spills or metal chips on floor
  • Dust electrical panels, tops of shelves, and partitions.
  • Wipe down exterior of machines
  • Walk exterior of buildings to pick up trash and sweep debris
  • Vacuum carpeted areas
  • Clean and restock bathrooms
  • Clean and restock conference rooms as needed
  • Must be able to operate in a normal machine shop factory environment, including exposure to machining oils and fluids, loud air hose noise, and exposure to sharp cutting tools, metal chips and burrs.
  • Observe appearances and conditions of premises and equipment; report needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services.



Qualification Requirements

  • Education/Experience

    • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED);
    • No prior related experience/training is required


  • Language Skills

    • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write in simple correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.


  • Math Skills

    • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
    • Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


  • Reasoning Skills

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
    • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.


  • Computer/ Office Skills

    • Basic windows/internet browser
    • ERP/Inventory





Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands

    • Frequent Activities: Standing, walking, typing, handling objects, reaching, talking/hearing, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 25lbs

    • Occasional activities: Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50lbs, stooping, kneeling, crouching.



    • Rare activities: Sitting, climbing/balancing, lifting/pushing/pulling heavy weights (100+ lbs).




  • Vision Requirements


    • Frequent: Close vision



    • Occasional: Color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, computer work and


    • Rare: Focus adjustments and depth perception


  • Work Environment


    • Frequent exposure: Mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals and outdoor weather


    • Occasional exposure: Vibration and very quiet-to-very loud noise.

    • Rare exposure: High places, electrical shock, and vibration

Compensation and Benefits Offered

Actual base salary offered to the selected applicant will be based on their work location, qualifications, job related skills, relevant education, and training experience.

Base hourly rate range Minimum $19.61 - Maximum $23.54
