Genesis10 is currently seeking a Financial Data Analyst with our mortgage loan corporation client in their McLean, VA location. This is a contract with potential to hire, fully onsite position (5 days/week). Pay range $54-56/hr W2 only. Must be able to convert without sponsorship.

Must Have Qualifications:


5+ years of hands-on experience with data transformation and reconciliation.

Advanced in Excel.

SQL/Advanced querying experience.

Ideal candidates should have experience in the finance industry (accounting), experience with general ledgers/sub ledgers, mortgage accounting or mortgage security experience, data testing, data reconciliation for analysis.

Prior Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac experience required with mortgage security accounting.


Summary:

  • The client's Investments & Capital Markets Division is currently seeking a Financial/Data Analyst Senior for a large strategic financial project.
  • The candidate will support change management activities and initiatives, with a focus on financial & capital reporting and forecasting.
  • This role will entail project management activities as well as the ability to handle in-depth tasks and resolve complex data and process issues.
  • In addition, the candidate's duties will include activities throughout the development lifecycle and production support, coordinating directly with key business areas and IT partners.
  • Our Impact: The Capital Markets division supports the liquidity of the mortgage markets and makes funding more available by purchasing mortgage-related securities guaranteed by the client and other financial institutions in its investment portfolio. The Business Technology Office supports all of the technology for this division.
  • Outstanding proficiency with Excel for data analysis of complex datasets, data quality validation, data reconciliations, and data transformation for inputs and outputs of forecasting processes
  • Collect and write detailed data transformation and financial process requirements
  • Create high-quality and high-complexity project deliverables, focused on requirements, reconciliations and test results
  • Create and maintain technical, process and data-related documentation
  • Support acceptance testing; create and execute test cases, reconciliations and regressions; analyze and reconcile complex test results using Excel and SQL
  • Improve and automate validations and input preparation processes
  • Maintain, update and track development features and stories in JIRA
  • Troubleshoot, track and resolve project issues, project dependencies and configuration changes
  • Lead the analysis, requirements and testing of financial reports using SQL and advanced Excel
  • Perform complex data and reports analysis involving financial, forecasting and risk data
  • Create engaging and detailed materials including user guides, specification documents, release notes and testing results
  • Support a variety of project management activities, including control requirements and execution, issue troubleshooting and analysis, data conversion and cataloging, and user training.


Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting, quantitative finance, statistics, mathematics, economics, data analytics or a related quantitative field preferred, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive experience using advanced Excel efficiently is required
  • Experience working with large data sets and relational databases
  • Outstanding quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to use SQL to query and display large data sets while maximizing the performance of workbooks
  • Proven experience writing SQL to query complex data structures and working with analytics
  • Expertise with financial statements and general ledger/subledger data is strongly preferred
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications
  • Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working with different databases and understanding of data and financial reporting concepts
  • Experience with implementing or modifying financial systems or applications, preferably related to accounting functions
  • Strong data and financial analytical skills; Ability to quickly understand complex financial concepts; Mortgage industry experience preferred
