Meter Shop Specialist

Repair, test and calibrate domestic, commercial and industrial meters, Encoder Receiver Transmitters (ERT's) and regulators in the meter shop, including quality control testing and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year experience as a Meter Shop Technician or equivalent work experience is required.

Have a knowledge of practices and procedures of the meter shop; repair procedures for domestic, commercial and industrial meters, to include all diaphragm, rotary and turbine meter types, and regulators; calibration procedures for all domestic, commercial and industrial meters and regulators; quality control procedures for all meters and regulators; operation and maintenance of all meter shop equipment. Basic computer skills; knowledge of meter shop software applications to include: Meter Tracking Program (MTP), Dresser Model 5 Roots Prover software, CSS, and MMIS. Ability to program ERT's by using FC200R programmer. Successful completion of applicable meter shop training as required.

TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Operate all assigned meter shop equipment
• Use meter shop/personal computer operating systems and software
• Perform all repairs and calibrations required
• Complete all assignments
• Resolve problems
• Perform tests and make calibrations on all sizes of diaphragm, rotary and turbine meters
• Repairs all sizes of diaphragm, rotary and turbine meters
• Use and maintain all meter test equipment to include bell, sonic and transfer provers
• Test and make adjustments to all sizes of regulators to include spring loaded types, pressure loaded types and pilot operated types
• Make repairs to all types of regulators to include spring loaded, pressure loaded and pilot operated regulators
• Perform quality control testing of all meters, regulators and ERT's
• Properly maintain emergency meter stock (Large Meters, Diaphram, and Rotary)
• Maintain adequate meter shop inventory, including ordering parts, updating item ID's for various meter shop items and completing monthly inventory
• Perform data input functions into the mainframe system
• Perform high bill investigations at the meter shop
• Maintains adequate supply of parts for meters, regulators and equipment
• Prepare company forms and records
• Utilize procedure manuals
• Apply problem solving techniques
• Observe safety and emergency procedures
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

• Must possess a valid driver's license and/or other special licenses/certifications.
• Must be available to perform shift work, staggered work week, including recognized holidays.
• Must be available to work overtime.
• Must be able to wear a complete company-issued uniform.
• Must be able to wear and use all personal protective safety equipment as operating conditions
  dictate.
• Must be able to work in another location, district, or department.
• Must be able to work outdoors, exposed to extremes in temperatures and conditions.
• May be exposed to natural gas during the course of work.
• Must successfully complete all aspects of required training.
• Must comply with company rules of general conduct, company policies and procedures.
